The first teaser trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem arrived online earlier this week, and the majority of fans seemed pretty happy with what they saw from this latest take on the iconic Heroes in a Half-Shell.

Some of the character designs did come in for backlash, however.

While the Turtles themselves seem to have escaped most of the ire, April O'Neil's reimagined look did not sit well with everyone, even though it's worth noting that the character has been depicted differently throughout her history in the comics, animated shows, and movies.

Splinter's new design also proved to be divisive (is that a Jheri curl?), although the news that the Turtles' wise sensei is being voice by Jackie Chan was welcomed.

Now, we have a couple of new images spotlighting the updated designs for April and Splinter, along with Leo, Donnie, Raph and Mikey.

Check 'em out below, along with the trailer.

“After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon will voice the roles of Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael, respectively. The cast also includes Jackie Chan as Splinter, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, John Cena as Rocksteady, Ice Cube as Superfly, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, and Seth Rogen as Bebop.

Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
