Just last week it was revealed that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later director) would possibly be directing remake of The Crow. But now, it has been reported that F. Javier Gutiérrez would be taking that responsibility.

Fango has learned that another Spanish filmmaker is actually in line to helm the reboot from Relativity Media. The other director “in talks” to put THE CROW into flight again is F. Javier Gutiérrez (pictured), director of the sci-fi serial-killer thriller BEFORE THE FALL (a.k.a. TRES DÍAS), which IFC released here. A number of directors have been attached to the new adaptation of J. O’Barr’s comic, including BLADE’s Stephen Norrington, but progress on the production has been slow. If Gutiérrez takes the CROW plunge, that’s just one of several projects the Spaniard is currently juggling.

But at the moment, I would only take this as a rumor as nothing quite official has been said just yet. Nonetheless, development for this film has not been very good as of late. And it still seems Mark Wahlberg has been reported that he was offered the lead role. Personally, I would not like to see this remake get made as it would most likely butcher the original. What do you guys think?

This is not good news. Just imagine holloween. All the cool guys that dressed like the crow finally gave up and started dressing like the joker. This halloween we could have both. I can't handle that. I need to stop this. I demand originality in my movies and hollween parties.

Cp: he is a good director. when I was in law school I spent 3 months in spain and france and seen his work. I just go back to my main argument. Give this great mind a chance to make an new movie. Trust me I bet he has a ton of great ideas just studios play it safe. Still I swear, if I throw a holleen party and 4 crows show up and 7 jokers im gona be a lil ticked.

The Crow was an excellent stand-alone movie. Sequels & reboots are just unnece$$ary.

I think they would be better doing a stand alone...I mean there's been more than just Eric Draven as the crow. There have been numerous people who have become the other Crow's. Go with one that hasn't been to film yet.

The original Crow is a classic. The second one was legit good. I haven't seen any of them after that. I saw Ed Furlong starred in the last one with Tara "Pepperoni Nipples" Reid, lolFAIL.

I have high hopes for this, if it's done right. Don't get why people are whining about a re-boot. Doesn't effect the old movie at all, it remains a great film, regardless of how this re-boot is.

People are acting like when they reboot it the original ceases to exist or that it somehow takes away from the original's awesomeness. If anything this will expose more people to the original, which is a good thing.

They'd be better off, if they wouldn't think about rebooting every franchise, which has become kinda cult...

If they really wanna do this (which I hope they do NOT), they have to be very delicate and they must remember one thing: The original movie is THE movie. They cannot make it better or else. They MAYBE can make it good in a very different way.
They won't top the soundtrack and the whole Crow-Theme, the whole atmosphere cannot be recreated. And of course, no one can top Brandon Lee in that role. He really made himself immortal with this...

I hope Norrington gets to helm it. He did fantastic with Blade.

Cold be good. Brandon Lee was great in that role too bad he is no longer with us. I think that Cillian Murphy would be good as the Crow because his voice reminds me of Brandon's and he has a unique look.

This is not needed at all. Either make a new one or make a female version of the Crow, this would bring in all different kind of audiances, and trsut me it would be cool. That an a female Crow, does exsit in the comics.

There is no reason to reboot. There can be multiple Crow stories. The crow gives vengence to a lost soul that cant rest. It doesnt need a reboot, just a new story to add. The first and second were good. After that they went waaaaay down hill. Second the sound track comments, it rocked. RIP Lee's
