Decision On Crossover Between SUPERGIRL And THE FLASH Will Be Made In The Next Month

It sounds like the decision about a crossover between Supergirl and The Flash will be made within the next four weeks, as both producer Greg Berlanti and CW boss Mark Pedowitz have provided a very positive update on the chances of this becoming a reality. Check it out!

Had The CW not passed on Supergirl, it would have no doubt been a very different series. However, what we would have lost in references to the Man of Steel, we would have gained in crossovers with Arrow and The Flash, but the adventures of Kara Danvers and the D.E.O. playing out on CBS obviously hinder that in a very complicated way.

We have heard talk of a crossover featuring Supergirl and the Scarlet Speedster though, and now producer Greg Berlanti has offered a solid update on where things stand with that. "I would love it, a lot of things would have to go right and people would have to say ‘Yes,'", he explains. "It would have to figured out very soon. It would all have to be figured out in the next month or so. As it remains right now we’ve talked internally about how cool it would be, but we haven’t had official conversations. [The CW chief Mark Pedowitz] is supportive."

Proving that support, Pedowitz was actually quoted (via Variety) as saying at the TCAs today that, "We are open if Greg [Berlanti], Marc [Guggenheim] and Andrew [Kreisberg] and Ali Adler can find a way to do it, we’re open to do it. The question is, can they find a way in all their business." The mention of Guggenheim points to Green Arrow also factoring into this crossover, and you have to believe that both networks would benefit from the ratings someting like this would result in. The question of course is how it would work. With The Flash exploring alternate realities, perhaps we'll soon be paying a visit to Earth-3? What do you guys think?

Yeap Earth 3 is the answer. Otherwise would be very complicated and messy.
Plot holes everywhere!

I really enjoy this Supergirl series. Happy the CW didn't take it because while there is the love triangle bullshit in the show, the CW would have more than likely forced them to make that the forefront and central focus instead of the actual superheroics. I do hope we get a crossover episode since The Flash and Supergirl have a very similar tone.

It could be awesome.

And, no, ALmazing, it would not mean Superman would exist in the Arrowverse. Have you even watched Flash? Alternate Earths, man.

If they can work it out and do a decent story from it, yeahh!

Yes please. I really want to see The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl together. It could be dctv's trinity.

Plus they could do an homage to this later down the line.

It can't be E3, because that's the Crime Syndicate earth. E5 is Shazam's planet.

@dacage

You do know Berlanti is a showrunner, writer, and producer on The Flash right?

I guess it's gotta be E4 then. Can't think of anything significant going on there.

Man, the idiots are in rare form today. Berlanti is responsible for half of the DC product that's on TV right now, not just SG.

I'd rather watch a Flash/Supergirl crossover than trying to sit through another crossover with Arrow.

Arrow is shit.

I'm sure these writers will know how to create a storyline for them to crossover...
Earth 2, Earth 3...i dont really know about all that...
BUT If they do it like how Arrow/Flash style that would be awesome...
One episode in The Flash, and the other episode in Supergirl...
Then we get 2 episodes crossovers...
So exciting...

And then next is try to do the threesum crossover with The Flash / Arrow / Supergirl

And then let her have recurring appearances in Legends Of Tomorrow

THESE ARE ALL OF MY WISHES FOR 2016 ... :)

It's a good thing Flash introduced the multiverse..I've been wondering for some time now how they would make sense of guys like Supernan and the kryptonians if they ever introduced them. Earth-3 or 4 makes the most sense

Earth 3. Done. And, at the end, they can show a wide shot of Flash racing Superman.

I mean, I am really enjoying supergirl and would enjoy a flash episode. But I really can just take it or leave it.

Earth 3. Done. Also having alternate Earths opens the idea of the DC Extended Universe being able to crossover and not tripping over the TV Shows. Make the DC extended Universe be the original Earth, like Earth 0. Let the Flaworrowverse be Earth 1.Then eventually do a big crazy Crisis On Infinite Earths story where the Anti Monitor is trying to eat every Earth in reality or something like that.

WOW DC is coming up in the game.

Here's a possible explanation for Superman's absence in the Arrow-verse, WITHOUT resorting to an alternate reality: TIME TRAVEL.

Both Green Arrow and the Flash are younger on television than they are in the comic books, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to suggest that Supes shows up when Barry and Ollie are older, and Supergirl is from a few years down the road from there. So Barry just has to jump, like, ten, fifteen years into the future, and suddenly there are Supermen and Supergirls and the world is a vastly different place, with Flash museums and such (and maybe Wally West as the default speedster).

The big, huge problem with this approach, of course, is that both shows are firmly rooted in the present-- with pop culture references and technological standards and such-- and it would be especially hard to sell Supergirl (with CatCo's heavy focus on pop culture and the media) as being set in even the near future. But it would at least explain the incongruencies between the two shows without having to resort to the tedium of alternate universes!
