For a time, it looked like Ben Affleck was well and truly finished playing the DCEU's Dark Knight. The actor had been set to take the helm of The Batman, a movie which was set to pit Bruce Wayne against Deathstroke; unfortunately, Joss Whedon's Justice League soured Affleck on the role.
Fortunately, he was convinced to return to shoot a handful of additional scenes for Zack Snyder's Justice League, with that seemingly opening the door to The Flash and a cameo role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (with the eventual plan being to put "Batfleck" front and centre in Crisis on Infinite Earths).
Affleck has since made his lack of interest in working with DC Studios and James Gunn clear, and we expect The Flash to be the last time we see him don the cape and cowl. Now, our best look yet at his latest Batsuit - and Batcycle - has been revealed courtesy of a new Hot Toys action figure.
Is this the greatest design we've seen on screen? That's largely subjective, but it's a striking take...which is only expected to have a few minutes of screentime! We'd argue that it's a little busy, though the armour makes the hero look suitably formidable.
Take a closer look at Affleck's Caped Crusader below.
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian...albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The movie stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton.
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
