As its release date races closer, Warner Bros. has shared the first behind-the-scenes featurette for The Flash, and this latest teaser focuses on the return of Michael Keaton's original big-screen incarnation of Batman.

The footage includes several great new shots of Keaton's Dark Knight along with "Barry II" excitedly reacting to the Batmobile, Supergirl in action, and more. There's also interview snippets with some of the cast, and director Andy Muschietti.

Check out the video below, along with a new still featuring both Scarlet Speedsters.

"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, an a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.

I mentioned this in another post, but it's worth mentioning again I think: Is it too early to petition for a cut of this movie that just has the Keaton Batman parts? I mean the way they are marketing thing it looks like he's in at least a third of the movie if not half, so how about we just edit out all the parts with (alleged) "Speed-Peder" and just get on with the Keaton stuff. We can keep in the Super-Girl stuff because I think she looks likable enough, but how about it's just her and Batman having to team up to take down Zod who's returned to conquer Earth? I mean, it's a pretty straight-forward story (Batman can't beat a Kryptonian on is own so he seeks out SG), the two team up and take out Zod. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. I don't care if it's just an hour long or so long, make it Special Presentation on D+. Oh, wait...

*Ahem*. You get my point. Just distill the movie down to all the cool parts that they are marketing that everyone really wants to see and save everyone an hour or so of their lives. I'm sure we could spend that time rewatching the previous 2 Keaton Batman films before watching this one. C'mon, y'all know this could be the Keaton "Batman 3" we always wanted. Jus'sayin'...

@Dingus - Or better yet, a one-man Broadway play called "Batman: Turn on the Dark" 😉. In all seriousness even though I LOVED Batman as a kid (especially the Keaton movies), I'm not that familiar with the storylines in the comics, so I don't know if something like this has happened (probably), but what about a Batman movie (Elseworlds of whatever), where Bruce is seriously deranged and locked up in Arkham and the whole movie is just in his head. Like all villains are just figments of his imagination (like a crazy homicidal clown, an ice-man, a penguin-man, etc.) That could even be the third movie in the "Joker" movie series. Dunno, sounds interesting to me.

This film looks like so much fun. It's been a minute since I was hyped to see a CBM. Also this guy is showing up

Come on!

Look, I get it. We have seen a lot of classic characters return in recent years. But somehow this seems different. At least to me.

I'm not old enough to have experienced the original Star Wars trilogy in theaters. I'm not old enough to have experienced what it was like to see the early Christopher Reeve Superman films in theaters. But I do remember being an elementary school kid excited all day because I knew I was going to see Batman on opening night. Regency Square Mall 1989 I was there. Legs dangling in the theater. I fell asleep halfway through. lol. Still a memory though.

@DarthOmega -

I love Keaton but Tobey Maguire showing up was a bigger deal for me. Crazy that Sony didn't use any of their appearances in the promo of the film before opening and still made 2 billion😱

@AmazingFILMporg - I remember seeing the Tobey films in theaters too, but I was already a young adult at the time, so the starry eyed child nostalgia factor isn't there. It was pretty awesome to see them both show up on NWH though. Little emotional ngl
