Warner Bros. was probably hoping the positive reactions to The Flash out of CinemaCon would be enough to help make the long-delayed, repeatedly reshot DC Comics movie one of 2023's most highly anticipated comic book movies.
However, despite Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav's repeated claims that it's the greatest superhero movie he's ever laid eyes on and bizarre stories in the trades about Tom Cruise, it doesn't really feel like much has changed. There's perhaps a little more excitement, but Ezra Miller remains a problem, as does the fact DC Studios announced its slate prior to any of 2023's soon-to-be non-canon titles, lessening interest in all of them, as a result.
Something we can all probably agree on, however, is that seeing more of Michael Keaton's Batman will be welcomed.
His Caped Crusader takes centre stage in a new promo for The Flash that makes it clear the hero is still every bit as formidable as the last time we saw him on screen.
You can watch that in the Tweet below.
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian...albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The movie stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton.
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
