THE FLASH Season 1, Episode 6 Synopsis; "The Flash is Born"

It sounds as if The Flash's sixth episode will be a landmark occasion for Barry Allen based on the title, but this description focuses more on the fact that The Fastest Man Alive will come face to face with the villainous Girder! Meanwhile, someone else joins the hunt for Nora's killer...

GREG FINLEY GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS’ VILLAIN GIRDER — The Flash (Grant Gustin) faces a new meta-human named Tony (guest star Greg Finley, “Star-Crossed,” “Secret Life of the American Teenager”), who can turn himself into girded steel at will. While Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) are concerned about Barry’s safety, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) comes up with a plan to take Tony down. Meanwhile, Iris’s (Candice Patton) blog on The Flash gets her into trouble, and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) witnesses Tony’s abilities firsthand and begins to ask questions that Joe (Jesse L. Martin) doesn’t want answered. Joe asks Dr. Wells to help him solve Nora Allen’s murder. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Jaime Paglia & Chris Rafferty (#106).

While another metahuman villain will be taking the spotlight in this episode of The Flash, it sounds like the Scarlet Speedster will finally be given a name in this instalment of The CW series. Seeing as many fans believe Dr. Harrison Wells is in fact the Reverse-Flash, him getting involved with the investigation to solve Nora Allen's murder should be very interesting to see play out. Thoughts?

I really hope they stop calling him "The Streak." That sounds so gross.

Agreed, thankfully they don't say it as much and it seems like they'll stop with that soon. It's definitely not as a bad as the "red-blue blur".

Harrison Wells totally had a part in Nora Allen's murder, so I'm sure some interesting details about his character will be revealed in that episode.

I can't remember when and where, but they confirmed that he'll be known as "The Flash" and will be a publicly recognised hero either by the midseason finale or when the show returns in January. :)

@soberchimera- At least The Flash is a cooler superhero name than The Streak. Nobody would ever would give a superhero a name like that.

I misread that first line as 'Greg finally guest stars' and got briefly confused as to who Greg was and how long people had been waiting for him to guest star

What is CW's difficulty with just calling characters by their supername? That last episode was like a self-parody with all the ways they were trying to avoid the [frick]ing title of the show.

@LeonardSnart

For What Purpose, Though?!

These characters do have names and in the case of the Flash, it's like they are just avoiding it as a (horribly unfunny) inside joke. And it's not just CW, either. WB movies have seemed uncomfortable with their characters' super identities as well.

It's like watching a Star Trek show that desperately doesn't want to refer to their spaceships by name. "Welcome aboard the Flagship of the Federation" and everyone just refers to it as "the Flagship". [frick] ME, I'M DOING IT AGAIN

The producers have said that they aren't avoiding his name, but they are trying to be realistic. If barry has only been running around for a few weeks and barely anyone has actually seen him then realistically no one is gonna be calling him his comic book name yet. The producers also said while they are doing this realistic movement, it won't be for long, as can be pretty much seen by the title of this upcoming episode.

leonardsnart I don't know what hes talking about either

GA has often been called arrow in the comics short for green arrow
and the flash hasn't really revealed himself to the public
(which I think is coming in next weeks episode)
all the public has seen is a mysterious red streak
most don't seem to believe in is existence
and supes n bats have been referred to by their superhero moniker in all of their movies so I don't really know what hes talking about

My belief is Eddie Thawne is Eobard Thawne ("Reverse Flash"), not Dr. Wells.
Still trying to figure out what character Dr. Wells can be.

Here is a weird theory, Dr. Wells is actually HG Wells and has traveled in his time machine and that would explain the newspaper from the future.

Maybe Dr. Harrison Wells is actually "Booster Gold" from the future.
He is from the future to secure the existence of the "Flash".
