In The Flash, Barry Allen will inadvertently create a new timeline in which Superman has been replaced by Supergirl. Warner Bros.' original plan had been to use this as an opportunity to remove Henry Cavill's Man of Steel from the DCEU once and for all, but it's unclear what the future now holds in store for Sasha Calle's Kara.
We know DC Studios is moving ahead with a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, of course, but James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't specified whether Calle will reprise the role in their DCU.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for the actress, though that will likely hinge on how fans respond to her after seeing The Flash!
In the meantime, some new toy packaging offers our best look yet at Supergirl's costume. Clearly inspired by what Cavill wore as Superman, it's a fantastic take on the character and one that's clearly borrowed a lot from the Injustice version of the iconic hero.
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian...albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The movie stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton.
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
