The first official screening of The Flash will take place at CinemaCon next week, but some possible spoilers for the movie have already started doing the rounds online.
Those supposedly come from one final test screening, but with so many self-proclaimed scoopers on social media looking to make a name for themselves, we're having to comb through a lot of nonsense too. It's no secret that the movie is going to include some big cameos, of course, and a lot of reliable sources have been talking about an Arrowverse character making their presence felt at some point.
While Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster is the most logical choice, it's said he doesn't appear in the movie.
Instead, trusted insider @MyTimeToShineH is claiming that Teddy Sears will show up as Jay Garrick, a character he briefly played in The Flash TV series before his true identity as the villainous Zoom was revealed. We're a little surprised he was chosen to play Jay here, especially when John Wesley Shipp would arguably be the most logical pick after starring as the Fastest Man Alive in a short-lived TV show in the 1990s before showing up as the real Jay on The CW.
Based on what we've been hearing, this sounds like little more than a blink-and-you'd-miss-it cameo rather than anything too major.
We can't help but wonder what the logic behind Sears making an appearance is, but with The Flash no longer resetting the DCEU, it's possible Warner Bros. has looked to make up for that with a tonne of surprise appearances. If nothing else, that should help make the movie a fun ride for longtime fans of the DC Universe on screen.
What we'd really like to know is how The Flash ties into or sets the stage for DC Studios' planned DCU relaunch. Chances are it will be largely standalone in nature with many scenes and characters probably on the cutting room floor now we're no longer getting a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie.
The movie stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton.
The Flash races into theaters on June 16.
