THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE IS BORN - Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) was just 11 years old when his mother was killed in a bizarre and terrifying incident and his father (John Wesley Shipp) was falsely convicted of the murder. With his life changed forever by the tragedy, Barry was taken in and raised by Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), the father of Barry's best friend, Iris (Candice Patton). Now, Barry has become a brilliant, driven and endearingly geeky CSI investigator, whose determination to uncover the truth about his mother's strange death leads him to follow up on every unexplained urban legend and scientific advancement that comes along. Barry's latest obsession is a cutting edge particle accelerator, created by visionary physicist Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and his S.T.A.R. Labs team members, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who claim that this invention will bring about unimaginable advancements in power and medicine. However, something goes horribly wrong during the public unveiling, and when the devastating explosion causes a freak storm, many lives are lost and Barry is struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma, Barry awakens to find his life has changed once again - the accident has given him the power of super speed. Thrilled with his new powers, Barry learns how to control them with the help of Dr. Wells and his team. However, keeping his secret from his best friend Iris (Candice Patton) is proving to be harder than he thought, especially when Joe's new partner, Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), catches her eye. When another meta-human attacks the city, it's time to put Barry's new powers, and himself, to the test. David Nutter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kresiberg and Geoff Johns and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns (100).

The Flash features:
Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/Flash
Candice Patton as Iris West
Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow
Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon
Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells
Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West
John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Robbie Amell as Ronnie Raymond

The Flash premieres October 7

Besides annoying Iris and a crappy Stephen Amell cameo the pilot was really decent.

It would not surprise me at all if the tag scene from the pilot is cut and ends up an extra on the Blu-Ray/DVD set because it sort gives some things away. I also read they are filming Firestorm's power scenes in the next few weeks.

everyone complaining about the suit. its meant to be an early prototype. the white circle in the emblem will come eventually and they've already brought in Ray Palmer (who helps to create the armored suit and the ring)

@FlashFacts
So your name says it all,you have all the facts about Flash?
You work on the show & know why they decided to go with a burgundy, maroon, wine colored outfit that makes zero sense.

Flash is NOT a stealthy character, there is NO reason whatsoever for his bold red colors to be muted/darkened.
Why do the effects of him moving fast indicate bright red & yellow when that's not the coloring of suit? Idiotic.

The pilot was enjoyable & I hope it's a good series but the colors are all wrong & the actor playing Thawne looks like Barry should, not the kid they cast. Oh well.

I wasnt as pleased with the pilot as a lot seem to be. I thought it was a little cheesy, but the series does have potential.

Overall I wouldve preferred a theatrical Flash.... and yes I know I'm being nitpicky, but Barry Allen is blond. Is it really that hard to find actors that actually look the part? Marvel does it all the time, why cant WB ever do it? Cavill makes a great Superman... and thats about it

It's like the creators of this show are flaunting how little they care about source material. They're actually trying to sell us on this show by showcasing melodrama, the Bullshit S.T.A.R. labs characters they've needlessly tacked on, and the "arrow" show that blatantly wiped it's ass with the comic books it was supposedly based on. Fans are not going to like this show.

So many people crying about the suit. It was never meant to be "The Flash's Superhero Suit". Cisco said it was a prototype suit designed for firefighters hence the heat and abrasion resistant material and the communication gear and respirator attachments on the helmet.

The only "Flash-specific" things on the suit were the lightning bolts on the ears and chest put there by Cisco to make it "look cool".

I have no doubt the suit will evolve into something we're all more familiar with since Cisco's all into it like an in-universe fanboy. Plus, his job is to "make the toys, man".
