Two Contenders Who Could Play 'Barry Allen'/THE FLASH Revealed

According to El Mayimbe of Latino-Review, three actors will be screentesting for the role of 'Dr. Barry Allen'/The Flash for The CW's Arrow today, but we only know two of the three contenders for the role, which one will become the Scarlet Speedster?

Latino-Review are reporting that The CW is looking at Matt Barr and James MacKay for the role of 'Dr. Barry Allen', who will appear on The CW's Arrow in Season 2 Episodes 8, 9 and 20. The first of those three episodes will begin shooting on September 30th, so we should know who will be the Scarlet Speedster sometime this month.

James MacKay is an Austrailian actor whose not very well known, however you can catch him in Roland Jofee's upcoming film, Singularity.

Matt Barr, however, has worked with The CW before on the now-cancelled Hellcats, so it isn't a surprise that he's being looked at. He's also known for Hatfields and McCoys and can also be seen in Tom Welling and Zac Efron's Parkland

Dr. Barry Allen will appear in episode 8 of Arrow as a regular forensics scientist trying to solve the mystery of his mother's murder in a two-part episode. Episode 20 will serve as a back-door pilot for The Flash television series which will be directed by David Nutter. Of these two choices, which actor do you want to see get the role? A third contender will be revealed soon - according to Latino-Review - that is if Mayimbe can find out before The CW picks their guy.

But in all seriousness, do you all actually think the Flash in Arrow's universe will be featured in an actual big screen adaption of Justice League.

Has anything like this ever been done before? Wouldn't thy have to really go into the graphics for the show to make it look at least 3/4's as good as it would look on screen?!

I was actually guessing Charlie Hunann since he has been on WB radar for some time and also I heard that Sons of Anarchy is wrapping up its next season. Perfect guy for the role of Flash and also he is no stranger to telivision and can easily be seen on the big screen if they decide to encorporate the CW universe with DCU.

Or if push comes to shove Jensen Ackles. The guy has worked with DC in the past, has a relationship with CW already, and Supernatural is ending this season. The guy would make a great superhero.

Okay, after viewing the both of these guys I'd say I'll have to go with Barr for the win!

They'll choose Matt Barr. He's got the right look for there show and more acting background

Charlie Hunnam is above CW shit.

I still cant get over the fact that they're doing a Flash TV show instead of a movie. But ill give this a chance.

Hunnam's too busy with the 50 Shade trilogy now, I'm sure DC don't want to share him with another franchise, especially one about bondage fetish sex. He may have been in contention before, but not now. Also with Pacific Rim doing so-so in the states and the possibility of sequels w/ that, I think they've passed on the notion of Charlie as Barry... I like this Matt Barr guy tho... He looks pretty damn accurate to the source material. If he can act, he's a real contender...

Matt Barr was good in Hatfields and McCoys I could see it being him. He also has that CW connection which they seem fond of at Arrow.

@Reasonnn CW actually have some good shows such as Arrow, Supernatural, and Nikita.

@TheBlackMan I really hope not. A live action Flash movie should be separate.

@TheAlexLynch

Oh yes of course but I was referring to the opposite! Character appearing in television series first then the big screen. It's easier to see a character from a movie come to TV but a character from a television series to theaters is a pretty rad/risky idea! I think it'll be great though! Gotta catch up on Arrow. Only seen like 2 episodes! lol

Yeah, definitely Matt Barr. He's perfect. Unless, somehow, the third choice is even better than he is. Wouldn't that be something....

Besides, they may not show to much on Arrow.

If it is kept to Ollie's POV then we will only see a Blur.

I think The Flash reaching the true limits pf his powers will be saved for the films, thus meaning on the show his rouges will test him, but it won't just be about running fast.

Maybe they might use Fringe as a theme. The Flash in testing his abilities accidentally rips a hole between our Earth and another, which A.R.G.U.S designates as Earth 2.

However, the rip, wasn't sealed and Earth 2 has been left open to attacks.

Mad with rage, the Alternate Flash (Reverse Flash) blames our Flash's lack of control of his powers, remembering that Earth2 also seems to be ahead a few years, and plans to bring the same devastation to our world, which has besieged his and caused the death of their Earth's once great heroes.

Wow. A Flash show that incorporates themes from Fringe? I would watch the hell out of that. Would certainly elevate the project above a typical CW soap formula....

About damn time! I stopped somewhere in the 6th season, and am amazed that it's still going.

Oh, okay, I did not know that. I was just pointing it out because I thought it was a good bit of news that deserved the front page. But I understand now that it isn't an instantaneous transition and won't wonder that in the future...

This should DEFINATLEY. Be part of the DC cinematic universe
Considering how they can only put out one superhero movie every 2 years
Tv could be a great way to fill in the gaps

James mckay could work
My vote is still for mike vogel

Man you guys are a bunch of dismissive idiots. You base your opinions on one picture? Really? This site is literally brimming with ignorance.

James Mackay is a talented actor who has made his name in theatre. For you dumbass DC fanboys who want to froth, he also recently won the Heath Ledger scholarship award over here, funnily enough Arrow's Jessica De Gouw (Huntress) previously won the scholarship too.

I dont want these shows to be part of the same universe as the movies. The Flash needs a solid actor to bring him to life in his first cinematic appearance. Do you really want either of these guys in a JL movie alongside Affleck & Cavill? I dont..
