THE FLASH: Rumor Has It Warner Bros. Has Canceled An Eight-Part TV Series Because It Starred Ezra Miller

The controversies surrounding The Flash star Ezra Miller (who uses the they/them pronouns) continue, and many fans have made it clear that have little to no interest in seeing the actor continue to play the Fastest Man Alive. What changes, if any, Warner Bros. will make to the movie remains to be seen, though we've heard that Miller won't be asked to return in the future. 

Has that led to a planned HBO Max series featuring the Scarlet Speedster being scrapped?

Actor Caroline Kwan (Lucifer, The End of Us) recently took to Twitter to claim that a friend of hers had been developing a project that's since been cancelled because it included Miller's Barry Allen. It's a little surprising that the plan was to take The Flash from his own movie to what we're assuming is an HBO Max series, though it's possible he'd have been a supporting character.

That would make sense in a show revolving around Michael Keaton's Batman or Sasha Calle's Supergirl, for example, though it's always possible this might have been an event series picking up in the aftermath of whatever damage the hero does to the DC Extended Universe in his solo outing.

If Warner Bros. has indeed pulled the plug on a TV show like this simply because Miller was involved, then it may not bode well for the character's future. Rather than recasting Barry, it now appears as if he might be shelved, potentially leaving the DCEU in an even bigger mess in terms of continuity (check out the leaked plot for more details). 

Kwan has since deleted her Tweet, so we're taking this with a pinch of salt for now. However, as is so often the case with Hollywood scandals like this one, don't be surprised if more is revealed in the not-too-distant future. Miller's behaviour continues to worsen, so something tells us there's only so long Warner Bros. can stay silent on what they've been doing.

The Flash is currently set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2023.
