More Asgardians To Appear In THOR Sequel; Will It Be More Asgard-Grounded?

Based completely on an overlooked statement, & slightly speculation, it seems unlike Marvel's original THOR film, the sequel could be more grounded in Asgard. Check it out!

Heels off the news of Marvel Studios pursuing Game Of Thrones director Brian Kirk to helm their THOR sequel, from Variety and Movie Web's report, what's offhandedly mentioned may hint at a majorly new direction from the Kenneth Branagh-directed film.

  • The "Thor" sequel is expected to feature a large cast of Aasgardians and creatures in the Norse mythology-set world.

  • Thor 2 is expected to double its cast of larger than life Aasgardians and mythical Norse creatures, making it one of the largest scale Marvel adventures to date, second only to The Avengers

  • Though I could be looking too much into it, this may hint at the possibility of the sequel being more, if not completely, grounded in the magical Norse realm of Asgard. Or not even just Asgard, but also the other six realms, of nine from the Norse cosmology, that weren't explored in the original film; especially if there'll be more creatures.

Of course, if so, it could mean the characters Thor interacted with in the original film, while earthbound, wouldn't return; notably Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. However, at some point in the comics, Thor did take Jane to Asgard with him, where she was briefly granted immortality and the power of gods; which could evidently be a twist for the film.

While staying noted that this is just a theory, and somewhat speculation, what would you think of Thor going on an all-out Asgardian adventure, rather than Earthly; like his outing in next summer's The Avengers? Anyhow the sequel hits July 26, 2013!

This is great news! In keeping with all the heroes of Marvel being different movies but, in the same universe. Thor should be in Asgard for his films and on earth in any Avenger films. As for the story....... RAGNAROK!

Yes, make a complete Nine Realm epic. The Asgardian cosmos and bifrost shots are the most stunning of all MARVEL films. Get a good director and make this happen.

Karnilla the Norn Queen needs to be in it if Baldur is.

The movie can start with Thor on Midgard having at the Wrecking Crew-but it turns out to be a distraction for:

Jane Foster gets kidnapped and spirited to one of the other realms. Thor must return home and convince Baldur to pull some strings and get Karnilla to grant him passage into the home of the Norns so that he can obtain information to the whereabouts of Jane. Then he must embark on a journey to rescue her.

I'm excited for this.It was reported a couple of days ago that Thor will not return to Earth in the sequel and the entire film would explore the other realms.

I'm thinking Thor 2 will take place before The Avengers.

Sounds good. Plot-wise, the Asgard stuff was more intersting in the first movie. The Earth sections were necessary, and quite funny, but now that he's established I think this is the way to go. Hopefully they will still be able to keep the humor of the first, which mostly came from the Earth sections.

It makes perfect sense to have like 99% of it in Asgard and the other realms besides Midgard.
The Norse Mythology, specifically the charachters and storylines created by Marvel FOR THOR in the comic books in decades' past, have a rich layer of development already.
But saying that.... I would love to personally see introductions of the Enchantress obviously, Balder, Skurge, and see Surtur, Ymir and Hela having plotlines in the background ;-)~

Asgard was beautiful in the first film! They should do an epic 9 realms film the size of one of the Lord Of The Rings movies!
