Although the movie does have its share of defenders, Thor: Love and Thunder was not a particularly well-received entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many viewers simply felt that the Ragnarok sequel was more silly than funny, and weren't on board with a "goofy" take on the God of Thunder and the overall more light-hearted tone.
Of course, they weren't the only things fans took issue with.
Whether you loved or hated the movie, it's an inarguable fact that Love and Thunder contained some truly abysmal VFX shots, and the "floating head" scene with Heimdall's son Axl using his powers to communicate with Thor arguably came in for the most ridicule.
Well, it looks like Marvel Studios has taken steps to improve this particular sequence for the film's streaming debut... although some seem to feel they've made it look even worse!
We're not too sure we'd agree with that assessment (the image is a little sharper, at the very least), but even a slight improvement really doesn't do a whole lot to fix what was always a truly bizarre creative choice.
Have a look at the side-by-side comparison below and let us know what you think.
Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters.
