THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Sam Neill Shares Behind-The-Scenes Look At "Odin" And "Hela"

Minor spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder follow.

After first catching up with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, we return to New Asgard where the stage performers we met in Thor: Ragnarok are reenacting the events of Taika Waititi's threequel for some tourists.

Thor (Luke Hemsworth), Loki (Matt Damon) and Odin (Sam Neill) are joined by Melissa McCarthy as Hela, as the Allfather's death and the destruction of Mjölnir are revisited in hilariously (well, depending on who you ask) over-the-top fashion.

Now, Neill has taken to Twitter to share a fun behind-the-scenes look at himself and McCarthy in full costume as the unnamed Asgardian actors playing Odin and the evil ruler of the Underworld.

The humor in Love and Thunder was hit and miss, but these guys always seem to raise a few chuckles. It remains to be seen if they return for more theatrical hijinks, but if Waititi does sign on to direct Thor 5, they will almost certainly be back for a scene or two.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder  is now playing in theaters.

@TheHumanSpider2 - It'll still turn a profit of course, but not impressive results.

@Feralwookiee - If the movie was as expensive as they claim, it needs to make $700M to break even...is obviously making more than that, it doesnt have any competition until Super Pets, but I dont know if Disney will be happy to that little profit considering the big names attached to this movie, or the ammount of money they put into it.

@TheHumanSpider2 - I hope this will be a bit of a wakeup call for them regarding phase 4, but I doubt it.

@Feralwookiee - If Sam Raimi and Taika Waititi couldnt do it in the span of two months, I dont know...maybe Coogle can do it, but if the leaked plot is true, I dont know...

Wait, McCarthy and Falcone were in a movie that was bad?

I heard audible groans in the theater when Melissa McCarthy came on screen. That scene went on for too long. Not one laugh.

@DarthOmega - do you think that's due to the audience you were with not liking Mccarthy? That specific part of that whole scene garnered the most laughs in my theater

The more I think about it, the more I adore love and thunder. It was already my favorite Thor movie (never really a fan of any of the Thor movies. Much prefer Thor in a Russos or avengers movie). But now it's one of my fav phase 4 movies period. I "see" the criticism of it feeling rushed. But I feel that adds to the overall stylistic choice of the movie. It's a "classic Thor adventure told by Korg". The silliness is in korgs nature to tell. And going from scene to scene is reminiscent of someone telling a story and not dwelling too long on the details.

It screams that hey, this was a pivotal adventure in Thor life (but not the most important) and there will be more adventures. We haven't had a movie like that. Every movie generally treats its conflict as the biggest thing ever. Think of mission impossible. Every mission is THE mission. Or the fast and furious movies. The movies end up all blending and I don't feel the stakes. But the way Taika told this Thor story, knowing that Thor won't die, is as if telling a story or fable of how Thor met Love and found his calling. To prepare him for what's to come in the future.

Anybody else catch that feel from this movie ? Am I crazy?

@Vigor - I didn't love it, but did enjoy it, and I definitely think people are being way too critical of it.
