Marvel Studios is bringing the thunder today with even more new content from the next Thor movie! As you can see below, this latest batch of Thor: Love and Thunder character posters put the spotlight on the movie's main cast, though the titular hero's goats, Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher, also get the chance to shine.

Elsewhere, we see Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), Valkyrie (Tess Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and Zeus (Russell Crowe).

This is one seriously impressive ensemble, and excitement for the Thor: Ragnarok follow-up is definitely building. After major plot leaks for Eternals and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's refreshing that this adventure has been kept very much under wraps. That means we have no idea what to expect, and something tells us some big surprises are planned.

Check out these new Thor: Love and Thunder character posters, along with the IMAX, Dolby, and RealD 3D one-sheets, below:

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

The IMAX poster is another good one. Don't care for the character posters.

Desperately trying to get hype for this movie.

That IMAX poster is just as great as that Dolby poster is terrible

Also, very interesting that the Guardians are not in a single poster from this movie. Feels like Marvel haven't been very shameless in the promo stuff for Phase 4

@OmegaDaGrodd - I'm guessing since the GotG cast were not in Australia filming for long, they will only be in the film at the beginning, so why give them posters? That's my guess.

I am surprised at how SILENT people on here who rage about super heros being "comic accurate", but when Thor is reduced to a comedic bafoon...not a peep!

@Forthas - I think over time, especially on this site, I've seen an increase in the dislike on Taika's Thor take.

Not me though, anything's better than the Shakespearean Thor from before in my opinion

@Forthas - Being comedic makes him likable and not boring. Which is funny tho because Captain Marvel has said to been that way and the complainer committee takes issue with that type of personality. Maybe you're more of a Captain Marvel fan...

Anyway. It's not like he's not ALSO out there kicking ass in some of the best scenes in the MCU. Dude is still a fvcking beast.

@Forthas - There’s plenty of humour in Thor comics.

@Tonic24k - 1. No, it does not. 2. Uh, yes, likable... It was very likable of him to crack jokes and act silly while his best friends died and he never bothered asking where they are.

@PlusUltra - Did you just use a panel from the story of Erika The Red as an example of a funny Thor story? Might as well mention that it ends in tragedy, in which the woman Thor fell in love with died of old age before he was able to return to her after leaving her to do his duties at Asgard.

Also, this comic is post-MCU. Plus this is a story of a young, arrogant Thor. He's a teenager in terms of his mental state. Waititi's Thor is a grown man who acts like a dumb 8-year-old.

Now find me a Thor story pre-MCU in which Thor laughs his ass off while Warriors Three are getting killed.

Also, you Waititi fans seem to be missing the point of why we, real fans of Thor, hate his guts. The mere existence of occasional humor in Thor comics does not equal that it justifies Waititi turning the whole thing into circus. That's like saying Peter Jackson could've turned LOTR into comedies because Tolkien's works had occasional humor.

Thor's a serious character, period.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - “ Now find me a Thor story pre-MCU in which Thor laughs his ass off while Warriors Three are getting killed.”

Find me a scene in a MCU when this happens. Don’t worry, I’ll wait…

“Thor's a serious character, period.”

Thor’s a comic book superhero originally created to entertain children. It’s not that deep.

@PlusUltra - 1. There you go.

2. Thor's a comic-book character who had a story in the 60s where Stan Lee took the myth of creation from Norse Mythology and attributed the creation of the first two humans, Ask and Embla, to Thor, because of Thor's doings fueled by Odin's will.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 6/13/2022, 4:11 PM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - I said a scene, not a meme. Try again.

Marvel’s Thor is a comic book superhero. It’s okay if you’re entertained by comic book heroes, you don’t have to make it out to be this and that. No one’s judging you.
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 6/13/2022, 4:16 PM
@PlusUltra - the meme reflects the movie, as Thor never bothered asking about his friends, but would rather crack jokes.

Marvel's Thor was modeled after a pagan deity and epic heroes like Sigrfied and Aragon. I say it's okay for a character to be larger-than-life while existing on the pages of a comic.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 6/13/2022, 4:19 PM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Doesn’t change the fact that Marvel’s Thor isn’t an accurate representation of the Norse deity, and is, in fact, a comic book superhero that runs around with a man that shrinks and rides ants. Again, it’s not that deep.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 6/13/2022, 9:07 PM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Shut up already. Lol. You’re just clowning yourself. You really went and fished out a meme to make a point?! Haha. Dude, just because something doesn’t happen on screen doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. We’ve seen ample amount of his mourning. We don’t need to see Thor cry every time he loses someone. We can assume he cares. We’ve seen it multiple times.

Your whining is embarrassing.
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 6/13/2022, 9:24 PM
@Tonic24k - 1. The fact is, that meme talks more about Warriors Three than Thor ever does in Ragnaschlock. This meme has more substance, you should rather champion it, pal. 2. You realize how pathetic of a response it is? The fact that you're excusing such garbage with "just because it wasn't shown doesn't mean it didn't happen".

Shut up. It wasn't shown, therefore, no, it didn't happen. Thor never mourned for his friends.

Your excuses are pathetic. The movie was horrendous. Admit it.
URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 6/13/2022, 9:32 PM
@PlusUltra - that's completely irrelevant to the topic. The topic was about how Waititi didn't get Marvel's Thor right by making him a fool who doesn't care for his best friends and doesn't speak in Shakespearen.

Also, Marvel's Thor has plenty of commonalities with his Norse prototype. Both are sons of Mother Earth, both wear a belt of strength, both are at conflict with Jormugandr and are destined to fight him at Ragnarok, both are friends with giants, both went on friendly ventures with Loki, etc.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 6/14/2022, 4:26 AM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Marvel’s Thor has about as much in common with the Norse deity as Disney’s Hercules does Heracles of myth, pal.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 6/15/2022, 2:48 PM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - You wanna know about pathetic?? Haha. Here we go. Your incessant complaining is pathetic. It's embarrassing. You're whining about a movie that performed very well and enjoyed by MOST. Nothing you say means jack shit. Other than exposing what kind of troll you are.

Pathetic is thinking your opinion is objective. Pathetic is constantly being proven wrong. Pathetic is thinking having some contrarian view makes you cool.

"Shut up. It wasn't shown, therefore, no, it didn't happen. Thor never mourned for his friends."

Black Widow fought alongside Hawkeye in Budapest. It wasn't shown but we know it happened because it was talked about. Uncle Ben died. It wasn't shown but we know it happened. We see Thor mourning and being depressed and we know it's because he's lost so much. We don't need a Warriors 3 memorial service to fvcking know Thor was upset by their demise. So your argument flat out sucks. You're reaching at everything little thing you can just to talk shit. It's....pathetic.

I'll admit that the movie was a lot of fun. People loved that movie. It reviewed really well and performed really well.

So if anyone needs to admit anything, you need to admit that your opinion doesn't somehow outweigh consensus.

So...

URCOMMENTSUCKS
URCOMMENTSUCKS - 6/15/2022, 5:01 PM
@Tonic24k - All your examples are strawman BS. You're presenting examples of an implied backstory that happens before the story takes places and is irrelevant to the story at hand.

Thor never showing concern over his dead friends isn't an implied backstory that's irrelevant. It happens in current time and it never gets proper response from a character.

Your shitty examples would fit if Warriors Three were dead before the story of the first movie happened.

And the movie being successful is irrelevant. The Dark Knight Rises was even more so successful. It doesn't stop anyone, especially on this site, from criticizing it. Why should a bad movie like Ragnarok be treated differently?
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 6/15/2022, 5:36 PM
@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Because it's not bad. And why do you keep bringing DC movies into this?

And all my arguments are valid. It seems you're just adamant about being right about something you're wrong about.

Must suck to want to be so negative all the time. Are you this miserable around people in real life, too?
