THOR's Chris Hemsworth And Tom Hiddleston Compete For 2012 Bafta Rising Star Award

Last year, it was The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy who walked away with this award and now The Avengers stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are just two of the actors up for this prestigious award at the 2012 Bafta's.

The Avengers and THOR stars are two of the actors on an all-male shortlist (X-Men: First Class' Jennifer Lawrence was considered but didn't make the cut) for this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts "Rising Star" award. As well as competing against each other, they'll be facing off against Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids) Adam Deacon (Kidulthood) and Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn).

The winner will be revealed next month when the 2012 Orange Bafta film awards ceremony take place at London's Royal Opera House on February 12th. Nominees for the main award categories will be announced next week and we'll be sure to let you know if any comic book movies make the cut.

As much as I liked Hemsworth as Thor, I feel this award should go to Hiddleston. IMO he had the stand out performance in that movie.

I could see both, IDK. I'd pick Hiddleston, but Hemsworth is great too so I'm undecided. LOL. It will probably be Hiddleston though.

The award is Rising Star, which is for the best potential future film star. That doesn't necessarily equate to the best actor. Hiddleston is a better actor, but with his adequate acting skills, looks and brawn, Hemsworth is probably more of a Rising Star.

Sorry? Jennifer Lawrence was overlooked? WHY? She has an Oscar Nomination!!! Shes a great actress.

But Tom will get this, hes in War Horse, and the better actor.

Hiddleston managed to own the screen while sharing it with Sir Anthony Hopkins. That alone should get him the award. The guy's got chops. Give it to him!
