Another late casting addition for Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts movie here, with Academy Award-nominated Minari actor Steven Yeun joining the ensemble in an undisclosed role.
No specific details on his character were provided, but Deadline reports that his part is "not only significant to this film, but a major role going forward in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
Let the speculation commence!
Yeun will be best known for playing the ill-fated Glenn Rhee in the first few seasons of The Walking Dead, but he's also made an impression in the likes of Nope and Okja. He is set to reunite with Bong Joon Ho on upcoming sci-fi flick, Mickey 17.
Though other characters might well be added, the Thunderbolts roster currently consists of Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).
Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) will put the team together, and may also be partially responsible for the creation of the movie's rumoured villain, Sentry.
Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who may wind up transforming into the Red Hulk.
Bear breakout Ayo Edebiri is also on board in a secret role.
Jake Schreier (Robot and Frank, Dave) is set to direct, with Black Widow scribe Eric Pearson penning the script.
Thunderbolts is slated to open on July 26, 2024.
