When the Thunderbolts line-up was first revealed via some concept art, the team consisted of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Red Guardian, Ghost, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, John Walker/U.S. Agent and Taskmaster, but we might just be one short when the movie hits theaters!
A rumor that's gained some traction online is claiming that Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost has been dropped from the roster, and does not appear in the final script.
Ghost, aka Ava Starr, made her MCU debut as the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp. She was never mentioned again, so most of us assumed the character must be a "one and done."
Despite John-Kamen's impressive performance, Starr wasn't exactly what you'd call a fan-favorite, but was notable as the only member of the team with actual superpowers (not counting serum-enhanced individuals), so her presence is likely to be missed - if this report is accurate, that is!
We're not putting too much stock in this just yet, so keep an eye out for updates.
Plot wise, all we really know about the movie is that it will see Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) form a team consisting of Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).
Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who may wind up transforming into the Red Hulk.
Jake Schreier (Robot and Frank, Dave) is set to direct, with Black Widow scribe Eric Pearson penning the script.
Thunderbolts is currently slated to open on July 26, 2024. Production is scheduled to commence this June.
