Attending a press event for 2 Guns in the UK, actor Mark Wahlberg discusses what type of interaction his character and Jack Reynor will have in Michael Bay's Transformers 4. "I give him a lot of shit in this movie. I didn't know my daughter had a boyfriend and then all of a sudden, this punk kid is thrust into my life and I have to deal with him while dealing with this very extraordinary set of circumstances...I have to entrust the most important thing in my life to him at a certain stage in the movie, 'if something happens to me then protect my little girl'. I love the human element of the movie. "

The actor also humorously describes an action scene he filmed a few days ago with Stanly Tucci where a new camera rig gave him a few "problems".

Ya know I wish they would at least do an animated movie that shows us what happened on Cybertron. My sons a huge fan and I wrote a story of my own that perfectly connects plot points from all three movies. It actually makes the films plots make more sense. Nothing I can do about the bad humor and human characters though. It takes place before Optimus is in charge just like the WFC games. Then introduces the big players from all three live action movies, and I found a way to make the three movies plots connect together.

Marky-Mark must be much better the LeBeouf was. I'd like to see Willis as captain solder or the Lennox as main charatet with a lot of war-action. More robots, more action, less "human element"!

Sounds like another Bayformers movie with annoying characters, forced comedy, racist stereotypical robots and too much emphasis on the humans and not enough on the autobots and decepticons war. Hollywood. Please Reboot this franchise!

Do you know how much time/money a 2+ hour live-action movie starring the robots as the main characters would take?
Neither does the studio. And it'll likely stay that way.

If Michael Bay actually understood how people behave IRL, instead of giving us all these stereotypes, I'd be a little bit happier. Still, the movies are fun.

I agree with @Vaportrail.

Everyone mentions the War for Cybertron and Fallmof Cypertron films but the transformers are on EARTH. There will be humans they'll encounter. Even though I would even love to see a 2 hour Autobots vs decepticon story it is necessary.

That's like saying we're going to do a human vs. human battle underwater and expect there to be no fish. (Yeah that sample sucked) but hopefully you get what I'm saying. lol

I actually trust Mark Wahlberg to deliver on this movie nicely. He is a much better actor than anyone else to touch this franchise, and I think his wit and charm will contribute nicely. Perhaps he is the breath of fresh air we needed in part 4. Hey, it least its a step up from the several dozen scenes of "NONONONONO" we get from Shia.

Plus, Stanley Tucci and that girl from Underworld is in it. Hasbro, take my money.

Anyone who wants a good Transformers story, with zero human element, should read James Roberts' "More Than Meets The Eye" -- it's the best Transformers since G1.

I don't get it. People bitch and complain that there is too much human involvement and storyline in Transformers and then a movie like Pacific Rim tries to cut out most of the human story element and just have robots fighting and people complain that there was not enough human story, wtf?

What a lot of you people dont understand is if they make a Transformers movie based only on yhe robots, its not gonna make as much.money. Theres nothing wrong with the human elements of Bays movies which i have totally enjoyed. Studios need to think about a larger fanbase than you few robot only fans. Bays a great director and his movies have been entertaining.

Bays films are pure entertainment and that's what I watch them for. I don't go to a Michael Bay directed Transformers movie expecting an Oscar worth film. I go expecting explosions and shit

The boots can not be the main characters in a 2 hr film. It doesn't work. It just doesn't. It works in a tv series because you have time to build those characters over time. I promise you if the robots were the focus there would not be more than 1 or 2 movies. Fans are not enough to support a franchise; they have to have mainstream support. That's just a fact.

Wrong. It does work. If WALL-E can be focused primarily on robot characters, then these movies are overqualified. Nobody goes to see these movies for the human characters. They see them for the Transformers, the title characters who aren't even the main focus of these damn movies.

And yes...Transformers should have been all about the...uhm...TRANSFORMERS...not the humans...shia ledouche sucked in the first two movies and was somewhat of a good actor in the third, but that movie was a mess in every possible way so nobody really cared.
Like the NostalgiaCritic said, Michael Bay's idea of a good flick is just to grab any scene and PORN IT.

@CaptainObvious...WallE was animated. Big difference. Yes you could make a 2hr animated film with the robots as the main focus. That would work. Cybertron and the other worlds from the comics would work great in animation. But in live action, the scale is just cost prohibitive. And as I said before, the mainstream audience wouldn't get it. And they are the ones who tentpole movies are geared towards. Without them, these movies don't get made. I hate that part, but it's reality.

Lol a lot of you dont get it. Whats the point of making a 200 million dollar movie for a small robot fanbase that wont wont even earn 'em half of the budget? Not everyone wants to sit through a trilogy filled with talking metal,its like having a Terminator movie without humans. Like what a lot have typed here, they needed to attract a larger audience. Most times what works on animation would never work on tv. I really dont care about the psychology of robots, how they feel oruch of their emotions, interactions etc...i just wanna see them blow shit up and bay overdelivers that.
