Is this proof that Michael Bay should throw in the towel when it comes to future installments

While recently looking about the internet, I came across a great little video. Take a look below, and gather your own opinion.

I’m not sure what you think, but it seems to me that if Michael Bay has gotten to the point where he must recycle his own footage like a bad Japanese show/movie, I think it might be fair to say he has blown his load when it comes to creativity with the “Transformers” film series. I suppose that would mean he should call it quits when it comes to making movies when your given a film about vehicles that turn into big, badass robots, and you can’t even use original footage. In all fairness, he probably assumed that nobody watched “The Island,” and he’s not too far from wrong. I actually enjoyed that movie, but that’s neither here, nor there. Let me know what you think, my friends.

Michael Bay does seem a bit lazy for putting the same footage into TF3.

But after watching the movie yesterday, I really enjoyed it but I really do feel its time Bay follows through on his promise and make no more Transformers movies. TF3 was the perfect close to his TF movies but the main reason I want no more Bay Transformers movies, too much dorky comedy and too much shit about humans. Its called Transformers, not Humans Who Help Transformers.

I dont mind when the story focuses on Sam and his woman because thats our human attachment to the story and NEST are fine too because humans have to fight to protect our own planet along with the Transformers. But the annoying humans I mean is John Malkovich's pointless character, Sam's [frick]ing parents, Ken Jeong (I cheered when he *SPOILERS AHEAD* got pushed out the window). So much of the movie wasted on them when it should have focused on the Transformers more

And even when it comes to Sam, they could of cut out all that bullshit about him trying to find a job. It should opened on him in the dead end job in Malkovich's company and focused on how Sam had a boring life after saving the world. Then the Decepticon could have attacked meaning they would cut out all that finding a job bullshit that wasnt even needed. I actually ignored those scenes when they came on until the Transformers were back onscreen

But when there is a TF4 (its a certainity), it needs new blood in cast and director and probably a reboot after that ending

um did you not read the article of why he reused the footage???? There was an extra hurt and partially paralyzed in the filming of the scene he filmed for DOTM and out if respect for her and the family he chose not to use the footage and redoing the explosions and special effects was too expensive.

I wish nobody had pointed this out. Now Bay's gonna think people are pouring over his films like they're pieces of art instead of pieces of shit.

Anyway, every Michael Bay movie looks the same. He's the Rob Liefeld of filmmaking. No, wait, that would be Uwe Boll. Maybe more like Greg Land, now that I think about it. But still, you get the idea.

I kinda liked The Island, but mostly because it was a complete ripoff of The Clonus Horror with a bigger budget.

Bay's not the only director who does this. It's a fairly common practice.
Unfortunately, most people on this site have very limited knowledge/experience with the film making process.

Not to mirror previous complaints or anything but this already has been posted on here..

Also, someone might have been hurt on the set for this recycle, but bay did it on previous films too. He used recycled footage on transformers 1 from Pearl Harbor..

This article is lame, and was posted before. Do you remember the chick that got paralized from the car accident on set last year? Well, this scene is from that chase. They decided it would be classless (and probably would have to pay more) to use that footage in the film.

Funny how this TF cost $5 mil less than ROTF but has more FX and is longer. The guy knows how to bring a film in on budget. he re-used one shot and added FX. So f-ing what? You gonna complain they used real Apollo 11 footage too? THAT HACK!

HE should have made Green Lantern!

I like Michael BAy as a director in movies other than Transformers. Too many people just give him flack for just the Transformers movies but they forget his good movies like Armegedon, The Island, Bad Boys, and Pearl Harbor. I swear that Transformers has ruined this guy's reputation.

@SUPERBATSPIDERMAN

His reputation was ruined before Pearl Harbor bro :)

studio trusted him to do transformers because his movies bring in a lot of cash.

Alright, if I’m going to answer these, I’m going to go in order:

@mbembet: I actually have no real beef with Michael Bay. We all know what his movies consist of, yet a majority of us spend our money (whether in theatres or DVD/BluRay) to see his movies because they are harmless fun. No, they aren’t artsy, you can drive a semi through the plot holes, and the plots are paper-thin if they’re present at all. But “fun” they are…

@dancingmonkey08: I haven’t seen the film yet, but I do plan on doing so. If I’m going to see a Michael Bay film, I know what to expect. So I’m rarely surprised. One such occasion was Mudflap and Skids from “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” and how blatantly they embodied such racial stereotypes…

@eatburn: 1) I honestly didn’t know it had been reported on here before, so my apologies for that. I searched and searched, but I didn’t find it. I knew it was too good that I found something relatively newsworthy that had yet to be reported. 2) I don’t have to make a movie to know how money works, sir. I understand there’s a budget that needs to be taken into account. All I’m saying is that it wouldn’t have taken that much to re-shoot this particular scene. Yeah, explosions in movies can be pricey (especially in a Michael Bay “Go Big or Go Home” movie), but with all the money that this series has brought DreamWorks & Paramount, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. But I have my opinion, and you do as well…

@hurleychris07: My big issue with this supposed “out of respect” reason is that it really doesn’t make sense. I completely buy that it might have been expensive (as stated above, DreamWorks and/or Paramount would’ve thrown a few more bucks at this guaranteed money-maker), but not that it wasn’t shown out of respect for Gabriella Cedillo and her family. If it was out of respect, he would’ve finished/re-shot the scene that caused this aspiring actress permanent brain-damage and partially paralyzed her. As an example, I will call to memory, “The Dark Knight.” Nolan could’ve changed the ending so that Joker dies so there isn’t a chance of re-casting until the reboot. But, no, he left it alone so that everyone could see Heath Ledger’s final full performance that he worked so hard on. I know it seems like completely different scenarios since Gabriella Cedillo was an extra and Ledger carried the movie, but, in my opinion, they are quite similar in a general sense. I guess my real problem is that whoever said that (whether Michael Bay did or the studio released a statement) should man-up to the real reason… But, hey! That’s just one dude’s opinion…

@RexDartEskimoSpy: I love you’re comment like Dorothy loved Scarecrow. Nobody should ever consider his movies “pieces of art,” but should watch his movies if they are just craving mindless fun. I’ve got to admit, I haven’t seen a Michael Bay movie I’ve hated, particularly liking “The Island” (with the only exception being “Pearl Harbor”). They aren’t great, but I watch them for the same reason I watch Jason Statham movies… It’s just a jolly-good time…

@hescian: I know it’s pretty common, but I just never thought that a studio would allow such a large movie to utilize this particular practice…

@kevberg: As stated above to @hurleychris07, I don’t buy the “out of respect” excuse. But, if I’m wrong, it definitely is very understandable. Unfortunately, we will never know since you can’t really trust any of the big names in Hollywood…

@ckyallie69: Firstly, I sh*t you not, I am listening to some CKY as I type this… I will now refer you to my comment for @eatburn

@aol2smoove: Again, as stated above, I understand that the goal is to come-in under budget for any director/studio. But, I’m sure there were better ways to save some money than to recycle footage from his earlier films. Also, he probably saved a sh*t ton after he or Spielberg axed Megan Fox…

@patriautism: I didn’t catch the previous article when I was looking, but I know now. Him recycling footage from an earlier film for a new movie definitely solidifies my belief it was done solely for money, not for respect for the individual injured…
