Lennie James' Morgan Revealed As THE WALKING DEAD Character That Will Appear On FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

We knew that The Walking Dead would be crossing over with its sister show via one of the current main characters, and it's just been officially announced that it's going to be Morgan (Lennie James)...

Immediately following tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick announced that Lennie James would be reprising his role as Morgan Jones for the upcoming fourth season of Fear The Walking Dead.

Yes, that means that Morgan will be leaving the main show, and it also means that it probably won't be in one piece.

"From the very first moment the whole suggestion of Morgan going over to Fear the Walking dead, the hardest part of that, from beginning to now, has been leaving The Walking Dead," James said in a statement. "Leaving that cast, leaving that crew. I've said my goodbyes to the cast and I've said my goodbyes to the crew. … That show stands or falls on the back of that crew. And I'm going to miss them very much."

Morgan has gone from ruthless killer, to man of peace, and right back to being a killer again over the last 2 seasons of The Walking Dead, so it's going to be very interesting to see how his story finally wraps up.

Tell us, are you happy Morgan will now appear as a series regular of FTWD, or would you rather he'd stuck around bit longer on The Walking Dead? Let us know in the usual place.

@xAdam - yes. It still remains the top rated show on TV despite the declining ratings. What else is good to watch? Serious question.

I honestly don't understand how this could feasibly work - Fear's timeline has only caught up to the point where Rick wakes from his coma. How utterly, in-comprehensively dumb.

This is yet another one of The Walking Dead's dumbest decisions made by the producers that it doesn't even make any sense. From the end of Season Three in Fear The Walking Dead, the stage was set for the crossover character to be Abraham;

- The FTWD group are heading for Houston, Texas, where Abraham lived at the beginning of the Apocalypse with his wife and children.
- Abraham was just killed on The Walking Dead show last season, so the actor is free to appear on the spinoff show.
- FTWD is set a few years before TWD in the Apocalypse timeline. Meaning by the time that FTWD gets to Season Four, it'll likely still be set at the same time at about Season Two/Three in The Walking Dead original show, wherein Abraham would still have been in Houston and not have met up with Eugene and Rosita yet.
- Abraham became one of The Walking Dead's most popular and iconic characters on the show, and was a big fan-favourite. Bringing him back for the spinoff would've garnered a great deal of attention and more fans would've happily tuned in to watch the spinoff just to see more of Abraham.

But for Morgan to be the crossover character in Fear The Walking Dead...It just doesn't work;

1.) For Season One-Three of The Walking Dead, Morgan had been living in Atlanta, Georgia, meaning he would still be living here by about Season Four in Fear The Walking Dead.

2.) Season Three of Fear The Walking Dead just finished around the American-Mexican border. That's a considerable distance away from Atlanta.

3.) If Morgan is to leave The Walking Dead show as of Season Eight and later meet up with the Fear The Walking Dead cast afterwards, it would either have to be much, MUCH later in the spinoff show at about Season Twelve, or the spinoff show would have to incorporate some sort of time jump to compensate. Either option is incredibly stupid and unnecessary.

4.) Morgan is one of the most important characters to The Walking Dead lore. He was the first person Rick met in the Apocalypse. He was the first person to coin the name 'Walkers.' He acts as a foil to Rick in how much they have transformed throughout the series. Rick has been as important to Morgan's character growth as Morgan has to Rick. For one to leave the other in the series is just incredibly stupid.

In short, I am really not happy with this decision. There are few good characters left on The Walking Dead - Rick, Rosita, Negan, Ezekiel and maybe Gabriel - but Morgan was my no. 1 favourite of the surviving characters. For The Walking Dead to axe one of its biggest characters and best actors just to boost ratings and money for the spinoff show is one of the most despicable corporate decisions a show could ever make.

I think I'm going to give up on this show when Morgan does leave. The producers and writers have made some of the dumbest decisions in the past few seasons - Faking Glenn's death then killing him because of Daryl, writing so many filler episodes in Season Seven, bringing back Morales after seven years just to kill him off within the span of five minutes of screentime just to further Daryl's character development - these are not well thought out decisions by the writers and are just short-term gambles to try and boost ratings in the short-term.

I was so psyched to see Abraham in Fear The Walking Dead and now I'm going to lose my no. 1 favourite character from the main show instead just so he can appear in the spinoff. Completely stupid and wrong.

@TheGoddamnPeel - all thoughts that ran through my head when I read this. Though I didn't consider Abraham. But I'm going to wait and see what approach the take here

@Vigor - A lot of people thought it was going to be Abraham just because of the likely setting for next season, but most of all because the actor Michael Cudlitz tweeted 'Something amazing is coming up, can't tell you what it is yet but can't wait to share it with you see on the other side' or something like that on the exact day that a crossover was first announced. It made complete and total sense for it to be Abraham and yet they've gone with Morgan because Scott Gimple is a [frick]ing idiot.

The only approaches they can take are;

1.) TWD will do a three year time-jump inbetween Season 8 and 9 after All Out War ends. FTWF does a two year time-jump inbetween Season 4 and 5 and catches up to the end of Season 8 before the original show does a time jump. Morgan leaves the main show at the end of Season 8 and inbetween the three year time-jump goes off to meet the FTWD cast. Its confusing but could happen. Its stupid though as the premise of FTWD was that it was set right at the beginning of the apocalypse and was its own show - doing a big time jump like this just depraves us of so much potential character development.

2.) For whatever reason, Morgan decided to travel to the American-Mexican border inbetween TWD Season 1-3 and then travel back to Atlanta, and has never told anyone on the main show about it for whatever reason. A small retcon on Gimple's part.

3.) The FTWD characters decide to go to Atlanta instead of Texas for whatever reason and encounter Morgan and his son Duane before he meets up with Rick in Season 3. This could work but again makes no sense for FTWD to go to Atlanta when it was meant to be set far away from TWD.

In short, this is just an incredibly stupid decision by Scott Gimple who's taken over Fear the Walking Dead and is [frick]ing it up as usual, and whichever approach he takes, it won't work.

@TheGoddamnPeel - ftwd take a huge time jump midway through the next season. And they are the whisperers. Morgan meets up with them after leaving Jesus

@Ha1frican - Oh, doh! I feel stupid now lol. Yes, you are right, it's not. If you REALLY wanted to watch it, Walmart had the series on DVD for less than $10 a season in their Black Friday sale. My local Walmart still had some available.

I thought it was going to be an insignificant character from Fear to cross over to Walking b cause Walking is ahead of Fear. I was hoping for those small vignettes to bleed over character wise to one of the shows

Scott Gimple is the worst Executive Producer in the history of television.

Also, when they interviewed Lennie James last night on Taking Dead, you could tell he's not thrilled with having to do this. He kept calling the other show "THE Fear OF The Walking Dead"... he doesn't give enough of a sh!t to call it by its proper name.

F.U.C.K YOU Scott Gimple.

This is interesting and I certainly didn't see it coming. Did Morgan make his way to Texas after parting ways with Rick or is that where he's headed now that he's left the Kingdom group? That would mean a time jump for FEAR. Still not sure how they will make it make sense either way. Or why even. I'm going to miss Morgan on TWD. Lennie and Melissa were upset about it, too. Hopefully this doesn't mean Morgan has met his demise on TWD.
