The third season of The Walking Dead has taken a lot of liberties with the source material, and while it makes the show far more interesting a watch for fans of the Robert Kirkman penned series, it also means that a lot of moments aren't brought to life on he small screen. Well, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that David Morrissey will be back as a series regular for this October's fourth season, despite initially only signing up for the one season. Last night saw The Governor on the run after a failed attack on the prison, but a return leaves the door wide open for some of those famed moments from the comic books (not to mention that he deserved more time to shine). While I agree that The Governor is an interesting character, he doesn't need to reappear so soon.

I wish he died, so they could move on with a different storyline, the woodbury/prison thing is kinda old now

They way I see it, not only will he be back next season but also season 5 as well. Just the first half of season 5.

If this is true (damn shame we have to second guess shit all day today) then it would open the door for the actual prison assault with oh so many deaths..

Mister Morissey is a fantastic actor, and I can't wait to see what's next for The Governor. But, I really hope they kill that guy in the midseason finale. Lol. He's so evil, and they've drawn out the whole Governor/Woodbury arc through the entire 3rd season. Especially with him coming back for the 4th season, I feel like they need to kill em' midseason, and then change the group dynamics like they have been doing a lot. I guess I just don't want the same thing for the 4th season. One of the many great things about this show is that each season is different than the last, and I want them to keep doing that.

Terrible idead if true. Recurring villians are terrible for most shows. You eventually have to redeem them and turn them into good guys or they become cheesy bad guys. The Governor doesn't deserve to be redeemed. Just kill the guy already. I hate when writers get lazy. Just create new characters. Now will just be bogged down with this story instead of moving on to new material. The Governor is the new Silar from Heroes fame.
