ARROW Episode 209 Press Release Confirms Solomon Grundy

Arrow episode 209 "Three Ghosts" press release confirms that Brother Blood's (Kevin Alejandro) henchman in "State vs Queen" (Graham Shiels) is indeed Cyrus Gold aka Solomon Grundy. Although he's not going by that moniker...yet.

OLIVER IS VISITED BY GHOSTS FROM THE PAST — After a fight with Cyrus Gold AKA the Acolyte (guest star Graham Shiels), Oliver (Stephen Amell) is drugged and left for dead. Determined to cure him, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) makes a risky decision. The cure causes Oliver to hallucinate, and what he sees forces him to confront his past. Meanwhile, Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) continues to help Felicity, and their connection grows stronger. The Arrow asks Lance (Paul Blackthorne) to look into Gold, but when the stakeout on Gold goes bad, someone is killed. Roy (Colton Haynes) is captured and tortured by Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro). John Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Geoff Johns & Ben Sokolowski (#209).

Solomon Grundy vs Green Arrow

For those that may not know, Solomon Grundy's real name is Cyrus Gold. It is when Cyrus dies and returns as an undead, hulking giant that he becomes known as Solomon Grundy. I'm guessing something similar will play out on The CW's Arrow or the character could show up later [and more dead] on The Flash or iZombie.

The CW Arrow season 2

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

"But please, don't merge with the DCCU. The quality of Arrow just isn't there."

Godzillafart - You're right. ARROW is leagues better than MOS.

If you were to ask me by the end of season 1 I would've said that I hope this isn't connected with something bigger.

But this season has blown all my expectations out of the water, they've really gotten into a rhythm of pumping out great episode after great episode. I love the way they have made Ollie mature, and its really starting to merge into something that can work with the bigger DC picture.

Here's to hoping its connected with Man of Steel. I would love to see Ollie's reaction to Zod's message, or hearing of the reappearance of Batman (since it sounds like Affleck has retreated from the world) after Superman shows up.

I really don't like that – like Bane – DC has turned Grundy into their version of the Hulk. I hope "Arrow" sticks to the classic incarnation.

And here's to hoping Grant Gustin knocks it out of the park as Barry Allen. He's got a unique look to him and I was hesitant towards him at first, but I think if they can pull it off it could be something special.

Only thing I'm worried about with Flash is the quality of special effects, they are going to need to be topnotch because they are going to need a lot of it. And please put some thought into some science please, don't just say he can run fast and no his clothes don't tear apart when he runs at super fast speeds.

@ForeverPowerful Arrow hearing the Zod message would be awesome, maybe even asking Felecity to see if she can find out who this guy they are looking for is.

That's pretty much all you need to do to connect it, without trying to actually get stars to make cameo appearances

All the shows will be a part of the DCCU. I know it's early but I feel DC is going to blow Marvel out of the water. The potential could be entertainment gold. A true work of art.

Awesome news! I like what they are doing with Arrow and have no challenge with them being part of the DCU. I actually have more of a challenge if they don't cross it over. That's me though.

If Roy is captured this could be the point where he finally realized Oliver is Arrow and joins the team. It will be interesting to see how he finds out. Loving Arrow!

Interested to see how this is gonna turn out compared to comics Grundy.

As for Arrow being connected to the DCCU, all it would do is put chains on Arrow n restrict the amount of things they would be able to use from the comics. Keeping Arrow in its own self contained universe along with Flash gives the show so much more freedom to play around with the DC library.

CANT WAITTTTTTTTT!!!

I doubt the TV DCCU will be connected to the movie DCCU since they are developing Gotham. Gotham does take place pre-Batman, so i don't know if that will work with MOS.

@RRA - Thank you. I needed a good laugh. I respectfully disagree but I see where the argument could be made.
If the worlds were to cross I sure hope they stop killing off a new and sometimes big villain every episode as was the trend until recently. Also, I'd like to see them reach into other heroes villainy instead of JUST Batman. While I LOVE it, being a man of money, one might think a reference to Luther isn't out of the question.

@Logan276 I see your point, but even when shows have not been tied into the movies, they have faced a number of restrictions in the past, and things are most likely planned years in advance so could hopefully avoid any conflict.

@JasonBlue The difference being the Gotham show is on a different network, and as you mention pre-batman, which would make it pre everything, so it really has free reign to do whatever it wants and still be able to tie into the movie universe.
