"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

I love the show but this is not Green Arrow im sorry this is Batman Jr...ive read enough of him to know hes not this dark brooding guy...and all of his villains are Batman villains...still a great show but it just seems everything in the DC universe revolves around one guy and thats disappointing

Game of Thrones is way better than The Mindy Project

Quit comparing shows that have nearly nothing in common.

@DestroyerOfHaters... We can compare the shows. They are both comic book properties on network TV. So... Stop trying to justify your liking of one of the worst shows ever. Agents of Shield.

@Duke the only one you got right was Vertigo and Merlyn...ill give you Deathstroke being a "DC" villain only because hes a hitman by trade and hes appeared in multiple arcs mainly Batman however but the rest are for the most part Batman villains...to say there DC oriented is kind of a cheap thing because of the Justice League and if thats the case then we can say that Doc Ock is a Punisher villain...while they may have crossed paths because of the universe I dont think any of these villains are thought of when you think of the character...i will say that bringing in the clock king is a change of pace because that is a Green Arrow villain but then were going right back to the league of Shadows which is so above Green Arrow pay grade that im torn to see this as a Green Arrow show....but what i will say is that its done correctly as far as a comic book tv series and because the story is engaging and it is a universe where they both do exist in the comics i just accept it

It's Nyssa Raatko not Nyssa Al Ghul. Al Ghul is a title not a surname.

@Duke I didnt know about the Grundy origin being in the Green Lantern arc but to be honest i dont read that much green lantern *shrugs* i know about Isabel but i wasnt referring to her or China White or Bronze Tiger i only meant the big names and i dont consider them like the big name villains you know i mean even on the show he whoops their ass really quickly i dont think he takes them seriously on the show sort of like the comics but the suicide squad thing im going to have to read that i didnt know that either...learn something new everyday

@40oz- Oh gee, you listed off one similarity. Which is my point. They aren't even owned by the same comic brand. There's no reason to hate one simply because you like the other. No one on here needs to like Agents of Shield, but they also prove nothing about the quality of Arrow if all they can say is it's a better show than one they apparently despise. It does nothing for their argument.

For the record. I watch both Arrow and Agents of Shield. I'll almost certainly watch any other comic book show that makes the air.

@Spidey10 Merlyn was a Member of League of Assassins that was his origin in the comics.
Dmon
Dmon - 1/15/2014, 10:57 AM
League of Assassins are used all through out the DC Comics not just Batman. They have been enemies of the Justice League which GA has been a part of.
Spidey10
Spidey10 - 1/15/2014, 11:00 AM
@Dmon i said that Merlyn was a Green Arrow villain but his association with the League never prompted any assitance from Ras like the show is hinting is all that im saying
Spidey10
Spidey10 - 1/15/2014, 11:02 AM
@Dmon i also mentioned that because everyone exist in the same universe and because you can make the case that Justice League was the lightning rod for all of villains in the DC universe i accept it
Dmon
Dmon - 1/15/2014, 11:09 AM
@Spidey10 What other assistance other then training has he had by the League on the show? Because in the show he is on the outs with Ra's just like the comics. In the comics he has very much been associated with the League. GA has interacted several times with the League in the comics. So there should be no problem with League also being featured in the show. All villains they have featured have been cross over villains for the most part. It's not like we are going to see the Joker or the Penguin on here.
Spidey10
Spidey10 - 1/15/2014, 11:12 AM
Ive never read an encounter with Green Arrow and Ras in the comics...if im wrong sue me i dont read enough Green Arrow obviously lol but this version of Green Arrow just seems like Gotham and a Nightwing show at times and again its my opinion...still love the show because everything again in my opinion is done well just doesnt feel like a Green Arrow show at times
Dmon
Dmon - 1/15/2014, 11:20 AM
@Spidey10 Well DC is a lot different then Marvel. DC's villains cross over more.
This is just one example:
In the series Green Arrow/Black Canary #11, a metahuman faction of the League of Assassins was introduced. They were involved in the abduction of an injured Connor Hawke. This groups members included Bear, Tolliver, Ruck, Spike, Mazone, and their leader Targa. However, although they thought they were being commanded by Ra's al Ghul, they were apparently duped by an imposter Shado.

Also The Seven Men of Death - The seven deadliest assassins of the League and Ra's al Ghul's personal hit squad. They answer only to the Demon himself and the Sensei. Merlyn was member of this.

Just for the record , Deaths trike is a Teen Titans villain. He made his first appearance in New Teen Titans #2 back in 1980. Solomon Grundy was originally a villain of the Golden Age Green Lantern back in the 1940's and today is just as much a villain of Supreman as he is of Batman or Green Arrow. If you guys think that this show is too much like Batman, you shouldn't be surprised. Green Arrow was designed to be a knock - off of Batman and they are only leveraging that to lure in more viewers and expose them to other characters in the DC universe. Just as Superman is the launchpad for the DCCU, so is Arrow doing the same for the DCTVLAU.
