While Arrow has had somewhat of a mini-resurgence in popularity this past season, thanks in no small part to a very strong villain in Prometheus, it appears as though next week's episode will shift the focus back to the relationship between Oliver Quen & Felicity Smoak that essentially sent the series on a downward spiral after season two.

The episode will pick up immediately after the end of last night's installment, which saw Adrian Chase set off an explosion at the Arrow Cave and trap both Oliver and Felicity down under. The duo, who remain at odds, will try to find a way out while also having a bit of a post-mortem about their relationship. Meanwhile, Diggle and Lyla will experience their own marital issues.

"Underneath" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

OLIVER AND FELICITY ARE TRAPPED - Things get intense when Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are trapped in the bunker together. Meanwhile, Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Andreson) and Diggle (David Ramsey) deal with their martial issues. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Beth Schwartz (#520). Original airdate 5/3/2017.

Newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City. With Diggle back in the military and Thea adamant about hanging up her hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity – but they’re no longer the only vigilantes in town. Green Arrow’s public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles, rather than allies, in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.

Arrow features:
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan
Willa Holland as Thea Queen/Speedy

I just saw the episode where Oliver is tortured over the weekend. This season has been a marked improvement over the past few years. Amell's acting has really come along as well.

@blackandyellow - I logged just so I could reply to it, because YES! Man, he was such a terrible actor when the show started! Hahahah! Great guy, but not truly good at expressing emotions or, basically, anything at all. If you look at him now, Jesus. The evolution of this man in INSANE. He grew three thousand per cent as an actor across these five years of show!

They have to know that killing g Felicity would bring back a lot of viewers. I sill watch...but I've seen enough of her. Kill her and let's have a great season 6.

Sounds like this season has been a big improvement over season 3 & 4. I think I'll give it a try again once it hits Netflix. But I am a little skeptical because I'm worried the bar is now so low that at this point mediocrity would look good by comparison.

@AngryBillCipher - I really liked the first two seasons of the show. Hated 3 &4. Does it ever get back up to the quality of 1 & 2 or does it still fall a little short?

@MrDandy - I would say its on par, maybe even slightly better than season 2.
