IGN is reporting that Stephen Lobo (Continuum; Supernatural) has been cast as Detective Jim Corrigan, a.k.a. the human host of the powerful cosmic entity known as The Spectre, for DC TV's upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event.

While the report does confirm that Lobo will appear as Detective Corrigan, it unfortunately can't confirm whether or not we'll also see him suit up as the Spectre. But considering the crucial role the character plays in the comics storyline of the same name and the "go big or go home" mentality The CW has adopted for the crossover, it's probably a safe bet that fans will indeed see him don the green cloak.

Following the announcement, executive producer Marc Guggenheim expressed a similar sentiment, teasing the Spectre's role in the coming battle, “Fans of the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic know the Spectre plays a pivotal role. We’re thrilled Stephen is our Jim Corrigan.

Production on arguably the most ambitious television crossover ever is expected to continue through the rest of the fall, as DC characters from Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Birds of Prey, Lucifer and Smallville unite to save the multiverse from the biggest threat it's ever seen.

The epic crossover will feature a ton of returning special guest stars from all across the multiverse, including Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman (Smallville), Erica Durance as Lois Lane (Smallville), LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor/Anti-Monitor, Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman (Earth-38), Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane (Earth-38), Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen/The Flash (Earth-90), Johnathon Schaech as Jonah Hex, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi/The Atom, Ashley Scott as Helena Kyle/Huntress (Birds of Prey), Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Kevin Conroy as future Bruce Wayne and Burt Ward in an undisclosed role.

Both Brandon Routh (Legends of Tomorrow) and Tom Cavanagh (The Flash) will be pulling double (and triple) duty for their respective shows. Routh will suit up as both The Atom and Kingdom Come Superman, while Cavanagh is expected to play Pariah in addition to the latest iteration of Harrison Wells as well as the Reverse-Flash.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins with Supergirl on December 8, followed by Batwoman on December 9, The Flash on December 10 and concludes with an Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow double header on January 14, 2020.

Didn't Emmett Scanlan already play Corrigan in Constantine? I thought Constantine had been added to Arrowverse.

@Odin - Guess they got a new Lobo to play Spectre

@Odin - While the show is in continuity they aren't going to bring back every actor from that show. One of those actors actually popped up in the last crossover.

@Odin - guessing they are playing loose with connections, astra’s actress had a voice cameo in season. 3 of legends, then in season 4 she was played by a different actress even before the age up. Really we will probably never get resolution to the brujeria story, if they ever do a Constantine show, it be best to keep Matt Ryan and whatever has been fermly established as canon by arrow and legends and recast everyone else and start fresh with a new story.

@storyteller -

Great observation. The guy who played Doctor Destiny in Elseworlds played one of Constantines
junkie snitches on the NBC show.

Holy shit WB just let them use Batman, WW, Lantern and Aquaman already. There's literally no point in holding them back anymore if they have access to the rest of the damn library, and are doing more with them now than [WB] will be able to in the same amount of time. The math literally goes against them.

@Kurne - Having Aquaman in the crossover would be cool

I wondered every now and then if they would showcase The Spectre in the battle against the Anti-Monitor or if it was going to be even possible or if they would just have to do with Constantine doing something.

But seeing how they actually went ahead to cast the character it is reassuring that they are doing their best to deliver in this homage to the story from the comics.

Can't wait to see him suit up. Might be left for the actual episodes just like we hope that Tom Welling's Clark dons a Superman suit in it.

Wait, letme get this straight, so, Scanlan played The Spectre then went on to play Lobo and now Lobo is playing The Spectre but there's no talk of Lobo in the crossover...

Does that about sum it up?

Odin,

Scanlan did play Corrigan. He also played Lobo on Krypton which was recently canceled. Just as the guy who played
Superman's grandfather on Krypton was approached for Crisis but unavailable due to getting a new gig.

Scanlan may have also gotten a new gig.

@Darth258 - Coincidentally, the actor who played Lobo also played Corrigan on the Constantine series.

I hope Corrigan can stay afterwards CoIEs around the Arrowverse. If once Constantine's run with the Legends ends and it is possible to revive his show to fill in the place that Supernatural will leave void then I think they could some very cool and interesting stuff.
