Gotham returns for its fourth season this Thursday and it looks like this may be the show's wildest, craziest season yet as the notorious Scarecrow descends on the city and unleashes terror upon all of our favorite heroes and villains.

The new season will also see Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) begin his transformation into the Bat Man and this new extended trailer gives us our best look at the young hero attempting to balance his life as the Dark Knight of Gotham and as the billionaire playboy the city will soon know. We also get to see Bruce & Alfred (Sean Pertwee) team with Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), who gifts him with an early prototype of what will one day be known as the Batsuit.

Check out the new trailer below:

Season Four of Gotham will witness the emergence of the criminal landscape for which Gotham City is best known, with GCPD Detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock at the forefront of the fight against the most depraved and unhinged villains. While Gotham City fights for normalcy, a new hero will rise, as Bruce Wayne begins to assume responsibility for the city’s well-being.

Gotham features:
Ben McKenzie as James Gordon
Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock
David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne
Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth
Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins
Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin
Erin Richards as Barbara Kean
Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle

The new Scarecrow looks great but I stopped watching this show since Season 2 and the "Batman" suit looks blah. Also, crazy, bisexual Barbara Kean was a dumb move on their part along with bisexual Penguin.

@WelcomeBackFrank - bi penguin makes sense to me personally

@noahthegrand - Why? There's nothing bisexual about him in the comics. The dude likes women.

@WelcomeBackFrank - it not really addressed that often so i'm okay with anything if the story's good.

Fack it, right? Just go for broke. This show has accepted its Elseworlds concept some seasons back. Might as well run with it.

Always thought that the Wayne show they were developing years ago that ultimately became Smallville would have been great if they repackaged it and did like a present and past flashback type of story to it. Half the story showing Gordon entering the GCPD and learning the ropes in the past, and Bruce Wayne learning martial arts, escapism, and everything he'd need for his war on crime in the present.

But, alas, we have this.

@VicSage - Your show sounds way better to me.

Show would have ended with Bruce becoming Batman, Gordon becoming Commissioner and the beginning of their relationship.

@MiZeatWizad52 - Thanks! But the writers already had most of it planned out. I just sprinkled some of what I wished would have happened.

Don't really watch this show much, but must admit I'm digging the Catwoman look in the trailer...kind of a Michelle Pfeiffer vibe.

Season 1 took me a while to get into. I got well into season 2, and then season 3 just was slow and annoying. I'm done with this and the Arrowverse. So much stuff to watch now, I'd rather spend my time on other stuff that I enjoy.

This still feels like really, really bad fan fiction.

Only now they are cribbing directly from the films (Batman Returns, Batman Begins) and doing it worse.

What's the flarking point of this trash?
