ELSEWORLDS: Clark Kent & Lois Lane Reunite On SMALLVILLE's Kent Farm In A New Crossover Photo
Another new photo from the eagerly awaited three-part "Elseworlds" crossover has been released, this time featuring Clark Kent and Lois Lane spending time at the iconic Kent Farm from Smallville.
The Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) may be different, but they're about to spend some quality time at a very familiar location another Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois (Erica Durance) made iconic over the course of a decade: the Kent Farm.
Entertainment Weekly has shared a new photo from the upcoming three-part "Elseworlds" crossover, featuring Hoechlin and Tulloch's characters on-set at the farm, which EW has also confirmed is the same farm Smallville used during its beloved ten-season run.
In addition to DC Comics' two most famous lovebirds, Supergirl star Melissa Benoist will also appear in the farm scenes and she detailed her experience working with the pair, “I felt like we should’ve been eating apple pie and waving American flags. It was such Americana, and there were pickup trucks and Lois Lane had a toolbox and was working on a car. That iconic relationship of Lois and Clark, [Tyler and Elizabeth] have just totally embraced it.” Benoist also had high praise for Tulloch's portrayal of Lois, “She is such a force to be reckoned with, and Elizabeth is perfect for it. The way they’ve written her in this world, she’s a firebolt and really sassy and awesome. I think people will really respond to her.” Considering how well Hoechlin's Man of Steel has been received, it's probably a safe bet Lois has been written just as well, if not better, than her superpowered soulmate.
Executive producer Robert Rovner revealed the idea to include Clark and Lois originated in March, during the first crossover meeting, and explains that she's going to fit very organically into the storyline. “When we were talking about the story we wanted to send Clark on in the crossover, we were talking about different elements and that’s when we started talking about Lois. We’ve always wanted to bring Lois onto the show. She’s such a great character and we were just excited to be able to have her and she organically fits into the story we were telling in the crossover.”
Rovner later adds that the crossover will have direct ties to the midseason finale of Supergirl season four, which is titled "Bunker Hill," and that Kara's journey will essentially mirror Clark's. “Kara is coming out of the midseason finale at a crossroads, and the journey that she’s on is kind of helped by Clark, who is returning from Argo kind of on his own journey." He also reveals the Kent Farm will be where they reunite after an extended time apart since "it kind of seemed like the organic place for them to meet.”
Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.
