Greg Berlanti CONFIRMS That A SUPERGIRL TV Series Is Indeed On The Way

There had been rumours about a Supergirl series being in the works, with later confirmation from far reliable sources that Warner Bros. and DC Comics were looking to bring Superman's cousin to TV.

There have been mixed reports about a Supergirl television series, with it initially being claimed that comic book writer Michael Green was developing the show for DC Comics and Warner Bros. It was later revealed that he actually has no involvement, and that it will instead be Greg Berlanti (who executive produces Arrow and The Flash) steering the series, and joining him will be writer Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family). When Comic Book Resources caught up with the former at PaleyFest 2014, Berlanti confirmed that a Supergirl series is in development, and while he couldn't give away any specifics, "We're just starting to work on it. We haven't gone to the networks yet, so. I'll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment." While there had been claims that the series - which isn't expected to be called Supergirl as you can find out more about by clicking here - won't be heading to The CW, it clearly hasn't been shopped around yet, so Green Arrow and The Flash could have a powerful new friend very soon! Depends on what we will be getting.. I really don't want another Origin show.

I love Arrow and I enjoyed the Pilot of both Gotham and Flash.. but I just want an established hero. Give us a hero, give us villains, give us a compelling story. I don't need to see how Supergirl came to be Supergirl. I certainly don't want a Gossip Girl version of Smallville like that Wonder Woman show was going to be.

...also, this might be best on Netflix and not on network tv

I love Arrow and Flash, and the superpowers jump has been very cool, but I just don't want aliens in the Arrowverse.

@BatManiac

Not only with their t.v. properties they are saying the Shazam movie is a different universe then Batman Vs. Superman and this supposed Legion of Superheroes if it is real would also be separated from their main DC movie universe.

Put it on HBO. Time Warner owns HBO. HBO puts out good shows!!! This could be one of them. Although, I too would rather have a movie.

i'm completely fine with 2 seperate universes, 1 Cinema & 1 TV... BUT i definitely would prefer 1. Nothing to do with Marvel doing it with AoS, more so to do with it's something a lot of ppl have wanted and thought about for a very long time but rarely ever happens, plus the fact that certain characters are so close to home with others (PRIME EXAMPLE: Superman & Supergirl). How are you gonna have a TV-verse Supergirl while you have a trail-blazing Cinema-verse Superman... pretty much spits in the face of the some of the fans saying "goodluck ever connecting these characters on the same screen!"

No one really wants 2 different actresses/actors playing different versions of the "SAME" character (except for when the original sucks) unless...

CBS doesn't have any superhero shows, they could pick it up and make NCIS:Metropolis.

HBO would never touch this. Not even with a ten foot pole. I'm surprised CW hasn't taken it. Hmmmm.

I didn't realize connecting everything is what makes or breaks a show these days.

@pesmerga44

My guess is that the Shazam situation is a temporary one, if people respond well to the movie and it makes the bucks then I imagine they'll connect it to MoSverse. Makes more sense to do that with Shazam then any of the TV shows.

@BatManiac

Then you have to wonder about the Sandman and Justice League Dark movies that are suppose to be coming. Will they be separate from the main DC universe because how heavy they are in the occult and supernatural side of DC. I thought DC was against all these multiple universes hence their big events that wiped out most of their multiple universes Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis and the such. Yet it seems the DC movie and T.V. is having at least three different universes possibly even more.

Okay, no.

Pasties never had that username. I was kinda hoping somebody would fall for it and just assume he changed it really fast.

I mean, it's not like he doesn't change 'em every 30 seconds anyway, so it wouldn't be too hard to believe.

Why???! Will you mention Superman? Prob not cause the WB film people prob won't allow it. How do you have a super girl'shere woul it mentioning Superman?? Smallville gave us everyhing we could see from a television displaying a kryptonian. This show could be interesting seeing as how DC television has a good track record so far with arrow and flash but...no sappy teenage angst. Prob get that because it's a show about a teenage girl so...smallville had teenage angst but still had badass moments and he did grow up. DC is trying to do too much to catch marvel. Marvel planned their shit methodically and oer time patiently. Idk

I'm curious as well how Superman will be referenced, if at all. Kind of confused here.

This show will also need lots of good sfx, so I hope they land a good network.

Awesome.

I have a feeling the budget will keep this from going forward though. Perhaps an animated show instead?

Also, why bother building a shared universe when you can build a multi-verse? ;)
