Jessica Queller (Gossip Girl, The Carrie Diaries) and Robert Rovner (Dallas, Bl first joined Supergirl during its first season on CBS as a co-executive producer and consulting producer respectively.  With Supergirl co-creator Ali Adler (Glee, The New Normal) signing a new development deal to return to CBS, The CW has promoted Queller and Rovner to the ranks of showrunner.

They'll join Andrew Kreisgberg (Arrow, The Flash) and WB TV mainstays Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter as lead decision-makers on the Melissa Benoist-led superhero show.

It's possible Supergirl season 3 will mark a shift in tone with the leadership change.  Or Queller and Rovner could opt to maintain the status quo.  We should have a clearer picture at this year's San Diego Comic-Con in July, where the DCTV universe typically rolls out the first trailers for the upcoming Fall season.

Didn't like season 2 all that much so I might not watch 3.

Hopefully this will lead to the show becoming better. I already was planning on skipping the next season, but if this will allow season 3 to be good I might watch it. I personally only finished the past season because I started it and am a fan of Martian Manhunter.

Season 2 was a slight step up from season 1. Not a giant leap, but a step.

It got a smidgen better being at CW over CBS ... The show is still finding its footing

Season 3 IMO will be a make or break season. They either make that leap into good/great material or it stays right where it is and possibly ends up getting axed.

I wouldn't mind if they axed the show in favor of a Justice League type team up with Supergirl, Superman, Martian Man Hunter and special appareances by Arrow and Flash

They could bring on Lex Luthor as the main stay bad guy, and then also follow the "bad guy of the week" format while dealing with he major threat of Lex and co

@bigdannymac - I think a Justice League type team up or a show about it is their endgame for the long future. But it wouldn't be on The CW but probably on their new DC streaming service app.

Agreed it is still finding it's footage on the network.

I really love the show but that being said I think the dropped the ball in a way.

First season was too many Superman villains. Second season they went and made her a reporter just like her cousin.

I know that people behind this show a re huge comic fans which sometimes can be a hindrance. It means they can't at times think outside the comic book box.

Supergirl for as long as she has been around has no real iconic villains or story lines There is her death in Crisis On Infinite Earths and the Peter David story line. either way you could count them all on one hand.

I would have loved to see villains created just for this show or use really obscure ones from the comics and find a way to make them cool.

Better yet I would have loved for them to take her off Earth all together as a way to explore the cosmic side of DC.

I would have started the show with her already being Supergirl working with her sister at the DEA(or whatever it is called) and something happens with an alien coming to Earth and kidnapping her sister. Kara follows. Comes across an planet who she has to help and in return they help her by giving her tech that will help travel the Universe looking for her sister. This way the could showcase the alien side of DC from well known aliens to some obscure ones.

Looking forward to season three quite a bit. Once the show introduced MM in season one and got rid of the constant in your face girl power themes, I thought it took a step forward in quality.
While I love all the CW shows, they all are guilty of having those cringe worthy, eye rolling, not again moments.
