SUPERGIRL Is A Force Against Fear On The Red Hot Official Poster For Season 4

The CW has finally released the official poster for Supergirl season four and it's pretty damn awesome as Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) stands front-and-center and asserts herself as a force against fear.

With a wide variety of incoming characters, Supergirl season four could be viewed as essentially a soft reboot of sorts as the Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) tackles more grounded threats from the likes of Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer), Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra), and other yet-to-be-revealed evildoers.

While J'onn (David Harewood), Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks), and Alex (Chyler Leigh) will all return to assist Kara in her superhero efforts, with Winn (Jeremy Jordan) gone to the future, the team will have a pair of new allies to break in with Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) staying at the DEO full-time and Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) making her DC TV debut in the season premiere.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Last time I ever heard a show going into a soft reboot was Teen Wolf and it did felt like that in all ways. (And it was awesome) Usually I would consider that if there had been a major overhaul in the status quo while here we just said goodbye to Mon-El and Winn (though if what the showrunners said is true he might be back in the end of S4) while we still got Kara, Alex, J'onn, Jimmy and Lena. If Alex were to ever leave though then it'd be pretty legit.

Anyway that has to be one of the best posters of the show. I'd place it along with Flash S5's. Black Lightning's for S2 is still IMO the best and Arrow is on 3rd. I hope that they release Legends' tomorrow since it'll be airing on Mondays.

The red aura around Kara is for me subtext about the Soviet doppelganger of hers. Some also said elsewhere that it is a nod to her red lantern aspect but we don't have any of them in the Arrowverse. (Yet) And the logline is also subtext for the fear the Sons of Liberty will spread around the city to drive away the alien community.

Curious how Kara's methods of mentoring will differ with Nia compared to Mon-El. Hope the Season delivers like Season 3.

IMO Melissa is great as Kara. Since they obviously can't get her into the movies, WB should cast Jessica Rothe, even if they do the weird 70s setting, she'd fit right in.
