In a Smallville callback, that mysterious "black rock" Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) were seeking turned out to be black kryptonite and that wasn't the only discovery they made tonight as they also found out that her mother (Erica Durance) and all of Argo City had also miraculously survived Krypton's destruction.

However, there was a twist as well as they learned that the black kryptonite is the only thing keeping everyone alive, which leaves Kara in quite the predicament.

Speaking with TV Line, Durance teased the final three episodes of the season, “Ultimately, this is going to put Kara in a dilemma having to deal with the black kryptonite. I believe that [Alura] obviously sides with her daughter … but it’s a little bit more of a problem for Supergirl. In order to save her new adopted family, she’s taking from her mother, right? So it’s this strange dilemma. Of course, Alura would do anything to help her, and it also galvanizes her to say, ‘OK, I’m going to continue to work on your father’s work and I’m going to get this done and I’m going to make it so that we are not dependent on this black rock.’ So it’s a new mission for Alura as well.

She also adds that Alura will be coming clean about some of her past miscalculations and will be looking to make up for all the destruction she played a part in causing, “I reveal how much I’m culpable — and I was — in the fate of Krypton, and some of the things that I did, and the way that I ruled on Krypton. That set the stage for the prison. And then everybody escapes so there’s also the fact that Alura is partly responsible for them escaping. That’s kind of interesting.

For the DC shows next season big bads hope we see
Arrow: We will be getting longbow hunters, along with Richard Dragon, but hope the Longbow Hunters include Lady Shiva and David Cain, since they obviously wont use the comic line up since a good amount of them have already been used.
The Flash:Well we are getting Cicada.
Legends Of Tomorrow: We will probably get another Legion Of Doom, so hope it includes Papa Midnight, and since they are doing a lot of magic stuff, hope the team is led by Morgan Le Fey.
Supergirl:Galatea from justice league unlimited, just give her the Power Girl name, since they probably wont use power girl.that way they can bring back Cadmus in a big way.
Black Lightning: We are keeping Tobias and his group, but hope we see Static and Blood Syndicate, maybe set up Holocaust as a possible season 3 villain.
Gotham: My favorite show, just keep Jeremiah/joker as the main villain.
Krypton: we are getting Zod

So while the world killer, Reign, has been busy killing people, beating Supergirl into an inch of her life, and planning world domination, where's her cousin Superman been?

Except Reign isn't just threatening Supergirl's city, Reign is threatening the whole planet.

@gremlin22 - In all shows or movies, the baddies is threatening the whole world etc.....

I see your point, but the premise of these movies and show mute that point or logic.

Did I miss something? Because it felt like the trip to Argo belonged in the next episode, and was even included in the promo for next week's episode. They never mentioned it last week, I don't think, so it seemed random as hell.

Great episode though.

Harden not showing up when it matters most? Not surprising at all. It's funny that after all this Raptors, Celtics, Sixers, Rockets, Jazz Finals talk... here we are back at where we knew we'd be at the beginning of the season.

Cavs v Warriors.

Is this season 22 episodes? Or 23 like Flash and Arrow? Last season was 22.
