There Have Been "Discussions" About Tom Welling's Superman Appearing On SUPERGIRL

Tom Welling has revealed that there have been talks of bringing Smallville's Man of Steel to Supergirl but is he interested? Hit the jump for his comments about a possible return for his Clark Kent.

Tom Welling was recently cast in Lucifer and while he's preparing to return to the world of comic books for that FOX series, it turns out that the Smallville alum has been asked about a role in Supergirl.

However, while the likes of Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort have appeared on The CW series as different characters, it sounds like Welling may have had some discussions about reprising the role of Superman (those could have been before Tyler Hoechlin was cast as the Man of Steel or even as a visitor from another Earth given the nature of the Multiverse which has been created via The Flash).

"I know Greg [Berlanti] quite well and there had been some discussion, but they’re different worlds," Welling said of a possible return. "There was an idea that maybe Supergirl, appearing on that, but it’s such a different show. I’m older now, I don’t look the same. Appearing on that show as Clark Kent or even Superman, for me, I would not want to watch me do that at all. They have a different tone."

It's hard to say for sure if he was asked to return as Superman but it's an idea he's clearly not on board with regardless. That's a shame as it would have been a lot of fun to return to
a world where he's the Man of Steel but it's easy to see where he's coming from. What do you think of Welling's comments?

@Spock0Clock - the Smallvile universe will be the first one to get wiped out. With a CGI Superman because (and everybody say it along with me)...

Welling will get into a casket before he gets into a Superman suit.

I was iffy at first but this guy was great. Really captured that "friendly but will still kick ass" thing that Superman has.

You didn't do it in Smallvile either Tom. Why break the habit of a lifetime?

TBH it seems like he just never wanted to be Superman and actually put on the costume in the first place. Probably doesnt want to be seen as only Superman for the rest of his career.
