Tom Welling was recently cast in Lucifer and while he's preparing to return to the world of comic books for that FOX series, it turns out that the Smallville alum has been asked about a role in Supergirl.
However, while the likes of Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort have appeared on The CW series as different characters, it sounds like Welling may have had some discussions about reprising the role of Superman (those could have been before Tyler Hoechlin was cast as the Man of Steel or even as a visitor from another Earth given the nature of the Multiverse which has been created via The Flash).
"I know Greg [Berlanti] quite well and there had been some discussion, but they’re different worlds," Welling said of a possible return. "There was an idea that maybe Supergirl, appearing on that, but it’s such a different show. I’m older now, I don’t look the same. Appearing on that show as Clark Kent or even Superman, for me, I would not want to watch me do that at all. They have a different tone."
It's hard to say for sure if he was asked to return as Superman but it's an idea he's clearly not on board with regardless. That's a shame as it would have been a lot of fun to return toa world where he's the Man of Steel but it's easy to see where he's coming from. What do you think of Welling's comments?
