Superman & Lois has found its new Jonathan Kent!
Last month, the news broke that Jordan Elsass had decided to abruptly exit the series. No specifics were shared, with The CW simply stating that: “Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast."
Now, Deadline reports that Australian actor Michael Bishop will take over as the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane for the upcoming third season of the show.
The up-and-coming actor recently made his American film debut playing the lead role of DJ Maz in Disney Channel’s Original Movie, Spin. His other credits include Australian TV series Grace Beside Me, Swinging Safari, and short films Shelter, Skin Like Bark, Detention, Pet Rock, Hunter and Gatherer and Indiana.
Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cushing), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Lane Irons), Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo), Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang Cushing) will all be back for season 3, which is scheduled to begin shooting later this month.
Superman & Lois is a little different to previous Man of Steel-centric shows, as the story will focuses on Clark and Lois raising a family and dealing with the "stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society."
Former The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing executive produces the series with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns via Berlanti Productions.
