Deadline is reporting that Ian Bohen (Wind River; The Dark Knight Rises) has been cast in the upcoming second season of The CW's Superman & Lois, joining the acclaimed superhero show in a recurring role as Lt. Mitch Anderson.
The CW describes the character as, "the metaphorical “new sheriff in town” at the DOD. His worldview divides into two types – those you serve and those who serve you. He doesn’t like that Superman exists outside that paradigm and tries to bring the Man of Steel under his authority officially."
It's unclear whether this guy is based on a pre-existing DC character or not, but the only Mitch Anderson in DC canon is a superhero named Outburst, who does have ties to Superman and is the leader of the Supermen of America group. So it is possible, even though the Anderson of the comic books appears to be vastly different to this new character.
The new season will see the return of series regulars Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Jordan Elsass (Jonathan Kent), Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cushing), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Adam Rayner (Tal-Rho), Dylan Walsh (General Sam Lane), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang Cushing).
Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo) and Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons) were also recently bumped to series regular status for season two.
This is actually quite a fun casting coup, as the move reunites Bohen with his former Teen Wolf co-star Tyler Hoechlin. The pair played uncle and nephew Peter and Derek Hale, respectively, on the MTV series for six seasons.
To celebrate, they shared a fun reveal video. Check out the announcement below:
