Superman & Lois will be back this fall, but the show will return one of its original regulars, as Jordan Elsass has exited the acclaimed DC series due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will now be recast for the forthcoming season three.
According to Deadline, the decision was made after Elsass did not report back to set in Vancouver earlier this week with the rest of the cast to begin work on the new season.
No further details are currently available, but in a statement, Warner Bros. TV said, “Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast." Elsass has yet to comment, but we'll likely know more in the coming days.
Variety has added that his exit is not due to any sort of workplace-related issue.
Filming on season three is expected to commence near the end of the month, so it's very likely his replacement will be announced relatively soon.
While Elsass is out, Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cushing), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Lane Irons), Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo), Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang Cushing) will all reprise their roles.
Superman & Lois season three is slated to return Early 2023.
