THE FLASH: Caitlin's Father Has A Frosty Secret In The New Promo For Season 5, Episode 6: "The Icicle Cometh"

Next week, Caitlin is finally going to reunite with her father and it looks like he's been keeping a pretty frosty secret. Meanwhile, Iris and Nora will partner with Sherloque to follow a promising lead.

With Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Iris (Candice Patton) back on relatively good terms and Rag Doll (Troy James) locked up, next week's episode will shift the focus to Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) as she finally reunites with her long-lost father (Kyle Secor).

However, all is not what it seems and it looks like he didn't actually go missing at all as he was actually forced to quarantine himself after an experiment gone wrong - the same experiment we're assuming resulted in Caitlin becoming Killer Frost at such a young age.

"The Icicle Cometh" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

CAITLIN LEARNS SOMETHING NEW ABOUT HER FATHER - Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) learn something new about Caitlin's father (guest star Kyle Secor). Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) and Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) follow a clue about Cicada (Chris Klein). Chris Peppe directed the episode written by Kristen Kim & Joshua V. Gilbert (#506). Original airdate 11/20/2018.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Leave it to Nora to make Iris more of a likable character (this has actually been a decent season for Iris). LOOK OUT everyone, here comes a new crown bltch on The Flash. Seriously, Nora's shtick was old weeks ago. This bratty attitude of hers, where she's a complete arrogant fool to Barry and Iris and treats them as if she knows what she is doing and doesn't need any assistance (newsflash, she is the most incompetent character right now on the show) needs to stop. "I'm a hero, like dad." No you're not, you ruin almost every issue you run to. Cecil putting Nora into her place was good. It honestly seems like Nora returned to the past so that she could complain to everyone. The writers have succeeded in making Nora completely unlikable, and I honestly would love nothing more than Barry to throw her back into the future. While the complete 180 in her tone at the end of the episode was unrealistic and totally jarring, hopefully this means that bitchy Nora is a thing of the past. Time for Nora to become a productive member of the team.

The Killer Frost storyline still isn't interesting (and makes no freaking sense in relation to the history of the show), though the detective aspect is decent. Do like Sherlock Wells.

Ragdoll was a highlight here. How he was portrayed, the sounds, the moves, the contortions, that was well done. But the wrap up to his story was super rushed.

But we had two really great scenes towards the end. First, Ralph stepping up to the plate with a great speech and then swinging like Spiderman through the city- great stuff. And then Iris jumping off the building to save Barry- probably the most badass thing Iris has ever done on this show.

Overall, a mediocre episode with a few real highlights.

@HeavyMetal4Life - TBH it still makes no sense that they haven't told her to go back to her timeline

@Snowbirdd - it doesn't at all...

Keeping her there is literally endangering the lives of everyone. Complete idiocy, I really hate that the writers have made Team Flash act so dumb. At one point they were the pinnacle of brilliance in the Arrowverse.

So far this week:

1. Arrow- great
2. Legends- good
3. Supergirl- okay
4. Flash- mediocre

Next week's Flash episode looks... meh.

BUT that new Gotham trailer though, that looks great. Looks like this could be the best season of the show. Guess they saved the best for last (hopefully). Show could be the 2nd best DC show on TV next winter following Arrow.

Damn good episode. Ragdoll was the most visually appealing villain we've had in these shows in a while.

Ragdoll was really cool. But that Elongated Man scene was so dope. Swinging around the city like that made me hyped in a way, The Flash hasn't done for me in a long time.

But Iris jumping off that building was purely ridiculous...

Honestly this show could use the help of some JLU style 2 parter episodes.

@Snowbirdd - was exactly thinking something along the lines of that tonight! Also was wondering why they don't bring back his Rogues gallery.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah it's really weird, and ultimately detrimental to the show's material. They keep running through characters and storylines like they're a local whore, leaving them to have to make shit up to stretch out a season.😭

Solid episode with strong character moments and development + Ralph and Iris doing dope things.

Rag Doll succeeded in being the creepy villain just like in the comics. I understood that he went after all the rich friends of his mom hoping their misery would bounce off from her for all the neglect she gave to him with the shallow stuff. And he also was a victim from the shrapnel embedded dark matter from the satelite, guess it must havee stucked inside of him like Cicada, except he isn't in pain. TBH I consider him a full metahuman than just metatech because he's not a thing like Spin's phone.

Maybe if in the future Nora came from existed those MIB memory wipers she could've undone all of her memories of future!Iris and start fresh with her in the present but that'd be cheap and wouldn't have lead to her coming of age in this episode. Carrying experiences and feelings from 30 years in the future back to the past for someone that is close to you yet overprotected you is a mixed bag. But Cecile's reveal of all those stories being of Iris growing up instead of Barry was a great twist. She humanized and made relatable Iris to Nora.

Seems that by the time this episode was shot Jesse L. Martin already took his medical leave of absence. Goodpseed if so.

WestAllen scenes while dealing with the plot were cool, I was expecting them to out loud reference Crisis on Earth-X as the reason why they never had their wedding dance but it was implied. I liked the song that was playing while they danced. And then it was over when from the unfocused angle of the camera you could see Rag Doll going out the window. (Without those out of focus shots it wouldn't been possible to nail the guy's surprise element)

I think the only weird/plothole part was how Rag Doll got the metacuf. Clearly he found out Barry was Flash by listening to their conversation outside the gala and prepared to kidnap Barry. Maybe he took it from Barry's jacket he left on the couch while he was talking to Iris on the phone and that's how he did it.

Ralph stole the show with the way he swinged from the buildings ala Spider-Man and then with his legs. So cool. Kinda of an unintentional tribute to the late Stan Lee too. (I would've liked to see how he caught Rag Doll, guess he absorbed him or found the wayt o mimick him like when he created the sonic scepter from his chest in S4)

Caitlin subplot left me even more intrigued. I am pretty sure that her father found a key clue in the origin of the metas because that portrait and in Cisco's vision of the greek goddess, Khione, is hinting at a larger picture and Caitlin's dormant powers as Killer Frost are just scratching the surface on it.

Cisco taking in all the pain he could handle for Caitlin's cause and to not let Cicada really bea him worked in a way as opposite to what Rag Doll hoped to achieve in his crimes. One endured it all for a friend while the latter went after it to use it to harm on others.

Iris' feat in saving Barry at her own risk just made her as much as an idol to her daughter in the same way Barry is.

And that twist in the end with Cisco taking DeVoe's still on orbit remaining satelites to have eyes and ears back and to find any of the remaining shrapnels with dark matter was perfect.

And I guess the only other weird part I didn't get besides how Rag Doll got the metacufs (checked again and Barry said earlier while he was encouraging Iris to work with him on the case and also as a date that he'd bring metacufs just in case so he must've been carrying them and then Rag Doll took them) was how Sherloque broke the breach device. Did he sit on it and broke it? :P

Also, that shoutout to the late Martin Stein at the college he used to work for when they were searching for Caitlin's father.

Astonishing.

Sooooo, they released this like an hour ago. A bonus "after credit scenes" likely due to the episode running more than usual (like in S4 finale) but wow.

The Rogues are slowly coming it seems. This scene along with Cicada's plot and the "Khione" one involving Caitlin's powers origin just made it harder to predict where the Season is going.

Bring it on nevertheless.
