The Savitar mystery was solved last night as Barry was finally able to confirm what many fans had correctly guessed long ago: that he was, in fact, the evil God of Speed. Now, with three episodes left in the season, the show has little time to waste as it races into the final battle between The Scarlet Speedster and the Future Flash.

While we're expected to learn more about how this alternate Barry became Savitar next week, the latest batch of photos instead keeps the focus at S.T.A.R. Labs where Team Flash is working diligently on a crazy new plan. We also catch a look at Killer Frost back with the team, so does this mean they were able to save Caitlin?

Check out the new extended promo for episode twenty-one, titled "Cause and Effect," below:

This seems like a silly decision on the part of the team and a lot of weak writing.

- They know that Savitar is a future Flash, however they have nothing to confirm that it is actually the future version of this Flash. As such, they have no reason to go through with a plan to weaken Savitar by weakening Barry.

- They want to stop him making new memories, except in order to defeat Savitar they would presumably need to come up with a plan and memories are the key to Flash executing a plan to defeat Savitar.

Overall it looks like a filler episode - basically just padding out the episodes, potentially even being a form of clipshow or way of reminding everyone how Barry met each of them.

Amnesia is also a cheap and rather weak aspect in story telling, all it does a majority of the time is delay things until the character remembers. A few times it has been used effectively, but here it looks like it's only happening to stretch the story further.

This is the episode after he learns Savitar's identity, he should be questioning whether he'd turn evil or potentially advising Iris to stay away from him.

@Scarilian - Well Season 3 is following closely the "Flash Formula", the only big change they make this Season to the Formula was revealing Savitar identity a few episodes later, but until then this season has follow every single plot point of the "Flash Formula":

-In Episode 1, they show us our first glimpse to the main villain (Wells gets up of the chair, Zoom makes a deal with Atom Smasher, Alchemy search Clariss).

-In Episode 2 they present the Main Villain (Wells kills Stagg, we meet Hunter Zolomon, we meet Alchemy and Savitar kills Clariss).

-Episode 3 will almost always have a link or plot point of the main plot but will be filler.

-In Episode 6 The Flash fights the main villain or the main plot begins (Joe begins to doubt of Wells and he threatens his life in his Reverse Flash suit, Zoom fights The Flash, Savitar fights the Flash).

-Episode 7 is a filler episode, wich maybe can have a connection to the main plot (In Season 1 this is where Wells goes crazy, in Season 3 here is where Savitar fights the Flash and we have the Alchemy reveal, in Season 2 it was a filler)

-Episode 8 is a Crossover.

-Episode 9 is where the Plot Thickens even more (The Flash finally fights Reverse Flash, we saw what Zoom wants of the Flash and Savitar is "defeat").

-Episodes 10-11-12 are filler episodes, they can have some link to the main plot, but they dont always need to.

-Episodes 13-14 will always be a big event (Firestorm, Earth-2, Gorilla City)

-Episode 15 will almost always reveal the bad guy (Wells kills Cisco and reveals he is Eobard Thawne, Zoom kills Jay and is reveal he is the same guy under the mask, Savitar escapes from the Speedforce and says a thousand times "I Am The Future Flash").

-Episode 16 is almost always the episode where the Team learns who the main bad guy is (Barry accept Joe was right and Wells is The Reverse Flash, The Team understands that Zoom is Jay, Barry goes into the Speedforce to save Wally)

-Episode 17-18 are almost always Filler episodes with a link to the main plot (A Flashback of how Eobard Thawne became Wells and Barry says the truth to Eddie and Joe/Cisco and Caitlin, A Flashback of how Hunter Zolomon become Zoom and Barry trying to be faster, "Duet" is filler and Abra Kadabra is filler too).

-Episode 19 is almost always where we go to the point of no return (The Team finds the lair of Eobard and the body of the real Wells, The Team decides to give back his speed to Barry and Zoom decides to take over the Multiverse, Barry travels to the future and see what he could become/Killer Frost allies with Savitar).

-Episode 20 It is almost always the battle between Flash and the main bad guy along the key to stop the bad guy is reveal but they fail (The Team tries to capture Eobard and fails, The Team tries to bring back his Speed to Barry but fail, The Team gets Tracy Brand and wins while we learn the identity of the bad guy)

-Episode 21 is a filler episode with a link to the main plot (Grodd makes his debut, Barry is trap in the Speedforce, Barry fights Savitar but loses his memory).

-Episode 22 is the pre-climax, is where Flash tries to stop the Bad Guy by any means, almost always is a filler with a clever ending (Flash Fight the Rogues and stops Eobard, Flash fights the Metahumans of Zoom and kills Henry).

-Episode 23, The Final Battle.

The episode last night was solid. Danielle Panabaker is awesome as Killer Frost, she has the best comebacks as being their friend and that ice surfing chase sequence with Flash was amazing.

Cisco's apprehensiveness about fighting her made sense, but we're still not out of that bag yet as we have to see them fight on the woods and snow to see how that vision will turn out to be.

Tracy Brand is genuinely likeable, I like how humble she is when they said she was a doctor and she corrected that no due not to having passed her exam or not agreeing yet she was a genius even if she unintentionally came up with a sketch of how to build the Speed Force prison and stop Savitar/Future Flash. She and H.R. are cute together.

Was nice seeing Joe allow himself to move on, I never realized at all the detail on him wearing his wedding ring from his former wife.

Reveal was well done with, good acted and the mixed of Flash's and Savitar's theme when Future Flash came out fitted.

As for those pics, it seems they've already figured out or are figuring out how to set up the prison that'll be made out of Future Flash's own speed. Judging by the board.

Amnesiac Barry is gonna be hilarious too.

So the writers are stealling again ideas from the comunity? first, olicity, now flash being the main villain of the season (remember when people said that RF was barry from the future? and when they said that barry was zoom? good times)
