THE FLASH Season 4 Casts The Thinker; Danny Trejo And More Join As Key DC Comics Characters

Following the release of that awesome teaser trailer, The CW has announced some major casting additions to The Flash season four for characters like The Thinker, The Mechanic, and even Gypsy's father...

There's been a lot of news coming out of Comic-Con and while The CW's DC TV shows were somewhat overshadowed by Marvel Studios, we definitely have a long list of reasons to be excited about their return this fall. In the case of The Flash, we'll be kicking things off by learning how Barry Allen escapes the Speed Force. However, he won't have too long to catch his breath as The Thinker will be taking aim at Barry Allen. That's right, we're finally getting a big bad in the show who isn't another speedster!

Neil Sandilands (The 100) is set to take on the role of Clifford Devoe/The Thinker, a metahuman with a mega mind who embarks on a season-long battle with The Flash that pits the "fastest man alive" against the "fastest mind alive." A true genius, it's said that he’s devised an intricate plan to fix all that he deems wrong with humanity. So, speed is still going to factor into things but not literally thankfully!

Danny Trejo (Machete) is Breacher, a feared bounty hunter from Earth-19 and the imposing father of inter-dimensional bounty hunter
Gypsy. His mission is to prevent any inter-dimensional traveller from threatening life on his planet — especially his daughter’s. Kim Engelbrecht (Dominion) is The Mechanic, a highly intelligent engineer who designs devices for Devoe. As Devoe’s right hand, she’s the truest of true believers who’ll stop at nothing to help him implement his plan to fix humanity. Sounds good!

Season long villain. So he's a non-speedster Big Bad? Good news.

For the love of god, fix that title. It should be "...Danny Trejo as The Thinker"

@Lemons - and he's not even the Thinker, he's Breacher

Guys, it's

"Flash Casts The Thinker-- As/While Danny Trejo and More Join..."

@Kurne - Oh yeah haha. It took me a reread as it was kinda confusing. The way people read a sentence a bit at a time makes it read like "The Flash casts The Thinker as Danny Trejo and more" which then makes you realise that you've interpreted incorrectly, and you have to read it again. It's a bad way to write a headline, it's called a garden path sentence. Should be 'while' instead of "as' like you suggested, as that's less ambiguous.

@Layide - So, the semicolon means those two parts are meant to be read separately... ...sooooo maybe the problem isn't with the headline y'all.

@DaLaBrAcK - and now I'm realizing that the title was probably edited before I first read it, probably because of the confusion expressed here. Egg, face, me, blah

Trejo would make a good Lobo.

@AgentX - I literally was just typing that exact same statement. As soon as I read "multidimensional bounty hunter" my brain jumped immediately to LOBO.

Josh - Is this click bait or do you need to re-Title the caption of this news? "THE FLASH Season 4 Casts The Thinker As Danny Trejo And More Join As Key DC Comics Characters" Or is it,"Danny Trejo (Machete) is Breacher, a feared bounty hunter from Earth-19 and the imposing father of inter-dimensional bounty hunter Gypsy." Cause it can't be both bro.

Missed opportunity not casting Trejo as Lobo

Let me guess, Machete is Gypsy's father, and Cisco is dating Gypsy. Trejo shows up, and they meet. Cisco has to prove that he is a worthy to date Gypsy, and gain Trejo's approval. Yep sounds like an episode of The Flash on the CW. And what's funny is I'll still enjoy it.

Seeing Machete interact with Cisco will be a treat.

I always thought Danny Trejo would be a great Lobo for the DCEU.

Anyone read the 'Full Stop' Flash arc? I think it would fit nicely into this season. Just swap Riddler for Thinker.

I'm finally glad they won't have a Speedster as the main villain. Season 3 started out with so much promise with Dr. Alchemy, then it got dumb. Of course, I watched every episode anyway.

Have the Thinker come on board and have him hire out the villain of the week as part of his "master plan".

Interesting in Neil Sandilands, never heard of him.

Danny Trejo huh? Can't wait for him to meet Cisco.

All in all very good news for S4 so far.
