We recently learned that The Doom Patrol will show up in the upcoming Titans TV series and now Deadline reports that Bruno Bichir has joined a cast which also includes the likes of Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, and Teagan Croft. He'll play Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief, the leader of The Doom Patrol.

He's described as, "a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial,
Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol."

Titans is set to premiere later this year but with a similar aesthetic to the DC TV shows on The CW, it remains to be seen just how close to the source material The Doom Patrol will look. Bichir is best known for starring in Che and Absentia and he'll soon be seen opposite Benicio del Toro in Soldado

What do you guys think about this casting decision? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

First live-action of the Chief, Niels Caulder, cool.

Now we need Mento, Elastic-Girl, Negative Man and Robotman.

The question is just how far or close is the Brotherhood of Evil as well.

Loving every update about this show.

Titans is going to a great show, waiting for Starfire full costume pics

@JohnnyTBP - I think the design they've revealed has looked pretty good, but if you're expecting anything all that revealing...

@JohnnyTBP - We've still to see all the other costumes. I'd imagine the next reveal will be the full Robin costume.

@JohnnyTBP - Judging by Robin's costume they'll probably stick to the Teen Titans cartoon costumes. When you think about it, it makes sense to resemble the most popular versions of the characters.

@Spock0Clock - not as much "revealing" as "defying the laws of physics". A bit more practical would be ok.

@Nightwing1015 - Sort of related, but I found the really low-key booyah in Justice League kind of insulting. I get that they didn't want to do the over-the-top kind of animated Cyborg, but to have Downer-Bot 5000 drop a half-hearted catch-phrase after two hours of him wanting to slit his silver wrists didn't do anything for me at all.

...Just don't bother, you know?

@Spock0Clock - just watched the movie for the first time 2 nights ago. So much about that movie sucks. Not only that, but it left me with no interest in an aquaman or flash solo movie. Such a shame...and yes, cyborg was awful. From design to the actual character. Again, such a shame.

This show seems to be the single best thing DC has going for it in terms of design and execution. I'm hoping for the best (as I generally do about these things).

...But, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I'm sort of hoping it will fail just so we can get Alan Ritchson into a bigger part on a bigger platform. A post-Flashpoint-reboot Superman, anyone?

@Spock0Clock - Please no blonde surfer-bro Superman. The guy just isn't a great actor, in my opinion. I think a large/mid-size role on a decent television show is likely the best place for him.

@OptionFour - They have this new stuff called shoe-polish, you know...

Also, if you've ever seen the guy in interviews when he's much more naturalistic, I think you'll see the angle I do. There's a down to earth quality to him that Cavill just doesn't have (in anything I've ever seen him in).

@Spock0Clock - Being natural and down to earth in an interview is not the same as doing it while acting. He always comes off as just kind of big and dumb to me. But if you can point out something he's better in then I'm not unwilling to change my mind.

@OptionFour - Well, hahah, I'm not the dude's agent and it almost certainly won't happen anyway. If it ever becomes plausible, I'll prepare some material to pitch it. :)

I'm waiting for more costumed pics. Those alone make the hype that much more real for me. Also glad there going with someone older. I don't need another Arrow Wildcat dituation.

Do we have any idea when this show will premiere?
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 2/15/2018, 11:09 AM
@SteveBosell - First they have to annouce that their streaming app service is ready to go, has a name too and then we'll know the premiere date. Comic Con looks like the perfect place for updates on this.
