TITANS Showrunner Teases That Dick's Transition To Nightwing Will Occur In Season 2

TITANS Showrunner Teases That Dick's Transition To Nightwing Will Occur In Season 2

Titans season 2 recently premiered, and it certainly raised a lot of interesting possibilities as the show looks to set the tone for an ambitious season 2 that includes Deathstroke, Bruce Wayne and more.

When Titans was first announced, many fans assumed that Brenton Thwaites' Dick Grayson would be giving up the mantle of Robin to become (the much cooler) Nightwing in season 1. That actually never came to pass, though the first season did end with Dick burning his original costume.

As season 2 kicks off, Titans showrunner Greg Walker heavily implied in a new interview that Dick is going to adopt the Nightwing persona before the 13-episode sophomore season wraps. "It's in the shadows, so stay tuned if you really want Nightwing information this season, I think you'll be satisfied by the end of the year."

Touching more on the inevitable transition, Walker stated that the catalyst for Dick's change comes from his relationship with Iain Glenn's Bruce Wayne, who's seeking to mend fences."It could never be the Batman and Robin version anymore because Dick has grown past that and rebelled against it, but what could it be if it goes past that? You have to deal with forgiveness and moving on and kind of adult themes, so I was really excited about writing that."

I kind of feel like they are going have Slade kill Todd instead of Joker. And bring Red Hood as the villain for Season 3.

@SonOfAGif - But it couldn't just be Red Hood. It would have to be him, Ra's, the League of Assassins, and some other supernatural villains.😂

The #1 thing writers struggle with (particularly with the superhero genre) is pacing & payoff. When to stop teasing, and reward the character & fans, with meaningful character development. In the comics, Tom King has really struggled with this during his overly long Batman run.

Dick should've transitioned into Nightwing, by the Season 1 finale. That would've made the closure and improved relationship with Bruce in Season 2, even better.

Two Robins on screen is a little odd. Just make him Nightwing and move along. Ian Glen had a hard time with the American accent I noticed. I don’t see Bruce Wayne when I watch him. Although I do like the show, I really wish we could just get good cameos and comic accuracy without waiting a whole season. Just use your damn characters DC.

The casting of Bruce is extremely odd but I did like the scenes between him and Dick.

I like that this is more of a Nightwing show than a Titans show. The first season borrowed heavily from chuck Dixon's run. And nobody writes the Robins better.

Well S1 was all about showing how his Robin persona was no longer giving the results that were needed, hence why he only wore it a few times. Brenton Thwaites did kinda hint that we would see the Nightwing costume by now but well, things have changed.

Hopefully the build up to it pays off by the end of S2.

Iain Glenn's Bruce Wayne is too old.

I have mixed feelings about Bruce. Way too old, yet I love the actor and his presence on screen, but he just doesn't look right.
