Though a few details (some of which came from cast members themselves) have leaked out over the past few weeks, there's still a lot of mystery surrounding Marvel Studios' upcoming WandaVision spin-off, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Aubrey Plaza's character has arguably prompted the most speculation.
The Legion alum was asked about her imminent MCU debut during a recent interview with THR, and while she was hesitant to speak about her character, she was full of praise for the Disney+ show, hailing it as "the most elevated Marvel Material."
"'Coven of Chaos' was so fun. I wanted very much to work with Kathryn Hahn, I think she's so great. And without saying anything really, I had a blast. I loved my character in that as well, and I think it's the most elevated Marvel material that's out there. So, it was cool to jump into that world with those people specifically."
Plaza is believed to be playing the show's main antagonist, and we've heard she is (or was) a member of Agatha Harkness' coven. One pretty outlandish rumor is claiming that she will portray a version of Lady Death.
If Plaza is playing a villain, she'll have plenty of backup. Salem's Seven are also expected to make their debut in Coven of Chaos, with Okwui Okpokwasili (The Interpreter) leading the team (most likely as Vertigo).
In the comics, these guys were the children of Nicholas Scratch (making them Agatha's grandchildren). They were magically-powered humans who had the ability to transform into animal hybrid/demonic creatures.
Coven of Chaos will focus on powerful witch Agatha Harkness, who almost managed to defeat the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in the season finale of WandaVision before being bested and trapped in Westview in her "nosy neighbour Agnes" persona.
Though Olsen is not expected to appear, there's speculation that Wanda might have something to do with Harkness' release and/or reformation following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Jac Schaeffer, who is under a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television, will serve as writer and executive producer and will also helm multiple episodes along with Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday; The Chi) and Rachel Goldberg (Cloak & Dagger; Mayans M.C.)
