AGATHA: COVEN OF CHAOS Star Patti LuPone Reveals Even More Spoilery Details About The WANDAVISION Spin-Off

Marvel Studios should probably consider having a word with Agatha: Coven of Chaos star Patti LuPone as the actress has just revealed another round of spoilery details about the upcoming Disney+ TV series!

WandaVision introduced us to the MCU's take on Agatha Harkness, with Kathryn Hahn's villainous witch going undercover in Westview as "Agnes" in a bid to steal the Scarlet Witch's powers. Her plan ultimately failed and Agatha was left trapped in the mind of her sitcom counterpart.

We'll return to Westview in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but should we expect more catchy songs? Hahn has previously suggested that might be the case but Patti LuPone just confirmed that in a surprisingly spoiler-filled chat with The Hollywood Reporter

"We are a coven led by the great Kathryn Hahn. I am a 450-year-old Sicilian witch and my power is divination," LuPone said after previously revealing she's been cast as Lilia Calderu. Asked if the witches sing, the actress responded, "They do. Our lead singer is Kathryn. I’m singing backup, and the songs have been written by Kristen and Bobby Lopez."

"I said, 'Listen, I don’t harmonize. I’ve always been a soprano. I’ve always been on the top line.' But it’s just been great fun," LuPone continued. "There’s no CGI either. What I am seeing on this show is craft."

It's surprising to see someone working on an MCU project spill the beans like this, though we're guessing the Tony Awards, Olivier Awards, and Grammy Awards multi-time winner either isn't bothered or will soon be getting a call from Marvel Studios!

As enlightening as these comments are, we're still very much in the dark about what to expect from Agatha: Coven of Chaos, though the show featuring musical numbers suggests it will be every bit as offbeat as WandaVision.

The supporting cast will feature a number of familiar faces from that series, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).

New additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in late 2023 or, more likely, early 2024.

But will it be Agatha all along?
StSteven

@Origame - Look, man, that's what I told the Feds. I don't care that the body had Flamin' Cheetos dust on it or that she was strangled with a Rick 'n Morty bandana. And the fact that she had a Transformers Studio Series "TF:TM" '86 Jazz figure shoved in her mouth was completely irrelevant, as was the Spider-Man onesy found on the scene along with the discarded cell phone open to this site. It wasn't me, it was Agatha all along.

I believe that my lawyer is pursuing the recently established "Temporary insanity brought about too many MCU viewings" plea. We'll see how it goes.

@Origame - Probably for the best. You should also probably delete your history and any other traces of any associations with me online so that they don't come knocking on your door as well. But remember: Agatha. It was that bitch Agatha!. Seriously, when my wife yells at me about tracking mud in the house after working on the yard, that's what I tell her. And when the trash doesn't get taken out (even though I KNOW I did), same deal: Agatha. And when a toilet gets stopped up: TOTALLY Agatha! 'Cause, see, it's Agatha, right?!? I mean, you get it, right? You understand?!? Hahahahahaha!...

... *Ahem* StSteven is taking a court-mandated break from all things MCU-related and will return as soon as his meds start kicking in. Thank you.

I'm hoping this show aligns with the comics and furthers Vision and Wanda's story as well as having some connection to The FF or Dr. Strange . The title suggests chaos magic, so maybe another step towards mutants.....

Although, I can totally see her spoiling all this stuff to anyone that asks, Patti is pretty wild herself. Check out her basement tour videos. She's a born entertainer, and I could believe she's trolling if it turns out that way.

This will be a hit with high school girls who like horses and drawing.

@JobinJ - Out if all of the decades of Marvel characters and stories, I am confident that, if a pole was conducted, Agatha and her story would have been at the top of any fan’s list.

I can’t wait for them to subvert my expectations while taking down the patriarchy via entertainment activism! I hope they expose the truth that Dr. Strange is nothing but a complete incompetent idiot.

"Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in late 2023 or, more likely, early 2024." So, three years after Agatha last appeared in W-V.

I didn’t love the movie, but Patti LuPone’s performance in Beau is Afraid was amazing. It won’t be nominated for Best Supporting Actress, but it should definitely be in the conversation.

I mean, you don’t hire Patti Lupone and then not have her sing. I loved her Mrs Lovett.

So, given the extreme and unexpected popularity of the "Agatha All Along" song from "WV", how is it in any way surprising that there would be additional musical numbers in this spin-off? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up releasing an entire album on Spotify or whatever eventually. It's kinda like if Burger King released their Ghost Pepper Whopper to great acclaim and then said "So... should we do a double version of it with another patty, cheese, and bacon?" and the answer is "Of course we do the f**king Double Ghost Pepper Whopper with Bacon!"

That one was for you @bkmeijer1 😊.

@StSteven - double ghost pepper whopper with bacon does sound really good. I'd like BK even more if they did that
StSteven
StSteven - 4/25/2023, 11:19 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Actually, they do do something like that during Halloween time (Ha! "Doodoo"!). It was a ghost pepper Whopper (I forget what all was on it) and it was on an orange colored but. I didn't get a chance to try it, but it looked pretty cool.

bkmeijer1 - 4/25/2023, 11:27 AM
@StSteven - was it a pumpkin bun? I gotta try that
StSteven

@bkmeijer1 - It was supposed to look like a pumpkin, but ti wasn't made out of pumpkin. Check it out: https://www.foodandwine.com/news/burger-king-orange-ghost-pepper-whopper

@bkmeijer1 - Well, when does the actual food look like the ads? If it comes around again this year I'll have to give it a try and let you know how it is. I'm one of those guys who likes spicy shit anyway (I usually put jalepenos on my burgers anyway) so this looks right up my alley.

@StSteven - true. It seldom does look like it. But this one looks even more artificial that they normally do.

And if I ever find myself in HK, I gotta check that out
