After garnering a lot of acclaim for his performance in Netflix's LGBTQ+ drama series, Heartstopper, Joe Locke is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Variety reports that the 19-year-old British actor has signed on for a role in Disney+'s upcoming WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. As per usual, details on his character are being kept under wraps for the time being.
Coven of Chaos will focus on the villainous Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), who almost managed to defeat the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in the season finale of WandaVision before being bested and trapped in Westview in her "nosy neighbor Agnes" persona. Further plot details remain a mystery, but it was recently confirmed that Emma Caulfield Ford is also set to reprise the role of Dottie.
There have been some rumors doing the rounds of late, however, and if accurate, this show could lay the groundwork for an eventual Young Avengers project.
Apparently, Marvel Studios is in the process of casting actors to play three mysterious characters who fit the descriptions of Billy and Tommy Maximoff (aka Wiccan and Speed), and Teddy Altman, aka Hulkling. They are said to be looking for an actor aged 18-20 to play a gay male with a "kind soul" and a "great sense of humour," so there's a chance Lock has landed either the Wiccan or Hulkling parts (we'd place our bet on the former).
We'll just have to wait and see if any more details are shared. For now, you can check out Locke in Netflix's Heartstopper, which was recently renews for a second and third season.
