D23 officially kicks off today, but ahead of the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared some intriguing new details about the Marvel-themed lands coming to Disney's California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disney.

Officially, the Marvel land will be called Avengers Campus. Disney promises guests a chance to "become part of an interconnected, global story" featuring some of Marvel's biggest super heroes.

Concept art and previews of Avengers Campus are featured at D23's Disney Parks Pavilion and some of it can be seen in the video tour below. The theme behind the Marvel portion of the Pavilion is that Tony Stark is at the event to showcase the Global Avengers Initiative as well as his partnerships with the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (which plays a role int he new Spider-Man attraction) and Pym Technologies.

Avengers Campus will "begin recruiting guests" in 2020 at Disney California Adventure. Besides the confirmed Spider-Man attraction, which invites recruits to "suit up" alongside the web-slinger, Avengers Campus will offer interconnected stories from around the globe. At Walt Disney Studios in Paris, a portion of the park will be reimagined for a "hyper-kinetic adventure" featuring Iron Man and other Avengers.

In addition to the Marvel stuff, Disney also revealed the ship guests will be staying on at the Star Wars-themed hotel. It's called the Halcyon, and guests will be able to check in for a "two-night adventure aboard a glamorous starship."

Disney promises guests will be able to interact with characters and even become "active participants in the stories that unfold around them on their galactic adventure."

Pricing for the Star Wars hotel hasn't officially been announced, but there are rumors that it could cost at least $1,000 per person, per day. Perhaps we'll get some sort of official announcement this weekend.

Last year I visited Animal Kingdom and if any attraction manages to come close to the Avatar Banshee riding attraction, I'm definitely game for more ''hyper-kinetic adventures''

This site is a mess right now - It's barely worth it to come here right at the moment because I can't reply or comment without a long waiting time. It takes forever for things to load and to even make a comment. I don't want to switch to Disqus because the GIFs and pics are what I love about this place. Siiiiggghhh

Q: Is Universal also keeping its crap Marvel Land or does it have to replace it?

@crawley- You shut your whore mouth, Marvel Land is iconic. Who doesn't love the Cyclops bulge?

@FBarnhill - Nah... Like I said, Disney owns the character, just not the film rights. A big part of "Avengers Campus" is the "Worldwide Engineering Brigade" aka "WEB", which seems to be a science division where Peter and others develop new technologies, and where there will be a Spider-man based ride.

Now, maybe they won't be able to use Tom Holland's picture or something (Not sure if they're using any of the stars' likenesses... It's worth noting that Tony Stark is still alive and working in "Avengers Campus" continuity), but something that big and central to a theme park design isn't going to hinge on the whims of Sony studios.

Er... "Like I said" in a completely different article (the one with the Spidey banner.)

@crawley - Apparently the Universal deal is still in affect. Hence why this is being built in California instead of Florida (no characters in Universal's park, or characters from the same "family" (X-men, FF, Avengers) can appear east of the Mississippi), and why it's called "Avengers Campus" (No other theme park in the world can promote with the name "Marvel".)

Not sure if that deal runs out eventually or not. Fun fact, had Universal put the Marvel characters into their Hollywood theme park then they would have blocked Disney from using the characters in the US in total. But they never did.

Disney can use "Guardians of the Galaxy" characters in Florida though, since Universal didn't have those guys in their park. Probably goes for Eternals and such as well.
