Earlier this week, Sigourney Weaver revealed that she had been watching a lot of Marvel movies as of late and heavily teased some sort of future collaboration with the studio. Well, we now know that she won't be appearing on the big screen; instead, the legendary actress is coming to Netflix as the lead villain in The Defenders. Unfortunately, no further information about who she's playing was revealed.
"Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act," said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, via a press release issued this evening. "Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say," added Cindy Holland, Vice President of original content at Netflix. "She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn."
It was at the end of the panel at the New York Comic-Con that Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, and Mike Colter came out on stage to join Finn Jones. Weaver then made a surprise appearance. As soon as some decent quality photos and video hit the web, we'll be sure to bring them to you guys here.
