No bad deed goes unpunished and, on January 10, 2024, Marvel Studios' Echo will launch on Disney+ and Hulu.
The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.
All five episodes are set to stream on January 10 on both platforms, though they'll only be available on Hulu until April 9. This marks the first Marvel Studios series to drop all of what the press release calls "entirely bingeable episodes" at once. It's an intriguing move and one which definitely gives the series an "event" feel it might not have otherwise had.
Marvel Studios has also confirmed Echo will be rated TV-MA, something that's evident from what looks like surprisingly bloody action. Daredevil - seemingly wearing his suit from the Netflix series - also makes a brief appearance but much of the spotlight is on The Kingpin.
As expected, he survived the events of Hawkeye and has tracked Maya down. Some fans continue to question what the point of Echo is beyond being a Daredevil: Born Again lead-in, but it's widely believed we'll see the title character receive a major power upgrade which could see her become a major player in the Multiverse Saga.
Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, The English), Graham Greene (1883, Goliath), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon, Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (FX's Reservation Dogs, American Gods), Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX's Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!, Four Sheets to the Wind) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Hawkeye, Godfather of Harlem).
Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai).
Executive producers include Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Richie Palmer, Jason Gavin (Blackfeet), Marion Dayre and Sydney Freeland. Co-executive producers are Jennifer L. Booth and Amy Rardin.
