THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Will Feature The Return Of Daniel Brühl As Baron Zemo (With The Mask!)

Marvel Studios' upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ series will see Daniel Brühl reunite with his Civil War co-stars Anthony Mackie & Sebastian Stan and it sounds like he's getting the mask!

Marvel Studios' Phase 4 will be unlike any that's come before it as it will include, for the first time ever, both films and television shows; one of which will be the highly anticipated The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The upcoming Disney+ series will be headlined by longtime co-stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular heroes and Feige revealed today the principal cast will also feature one more key member as the villain: Daniel Brühl, who will reprise his role as Baron Helmut Zemo from Captain America: Civil War.

Brühl interrupted the panel, via pre-recorded video, to make the announcement and after sharing a few words, he confirmed Baron Zemo will be getting his iconic purple mask by actually putting it on for the audience, which was met with a massive round of applause from Hall H.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

Feige brought news on the Disney+ original series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” which pairs up two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most popular heroes—Sam Wilson aka The Falcon and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier—in a series of action-filled adventures as they fight together against evil after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Anthony Mackie (The Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier) came on stage to greet the fans, and it was revealed that Daniel Brühl will return as the villain, Baron Zemo.

“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” is set to debut on Disney+ in the fall of 2020.

@Vocloz - poor, poor Netflix. and getting Ali for Blade seems like an extra "f*ck you" on top of that.

@Spidey91 - they had a good run, but for 9 bucks a month and all this goodness? Disney again has my money. Loving the Ali casting!

@Spidey91 - why not have both a-hole, instead of bashing my Netflix. They have new and upcoming shows that I can’t wait for.

Biggest interest is probably for Doctor Strange 2 and for the visuals of the real Mandarin in Shang Chi - though admittedly a lot of the appeal of the Mandarin for me was the science VS magic aspect that would have resulted from him seeing Iron Man.

Not sure how i feel about almost everything being a team-up movie - difficult to imagine a Doctor Strange horror movie when you have two very over-powered spell casters. Let alone a threat that would be strong enough to warrant Thor, Valkyrie and Jane Foster Thor also.

Kind of confused as to why they set-up the idea of Thor going with the Guardians. Is Guardians 3 going to be a prequel to Thor 4? Otherwise its kind of odd setting him up to appear next in one film only to have him appear elsewhere. Wonder how Adam Warlock will factor into this as Thor was in Guardians 3 primarily for that reason.

@Scarilian -
Honestly, I feel like Robert Downey Jr. should have been the one to defeat the Mandarin and the Ten Rings. They are the reason he became Iron Man to begin with.

As much as I loved Endgame, the film Iron Man 3 did an awful job wrapping up that franchise. It also messed up Tony Stark's character arc a little bit. Now they have to deal with the whole Mandarin thread (which is intrinsically tied to Tony Stark's storyline) in another franchise.

@Darkknight2149 - I completely get what your saying however he fits as a villain against a team as well as against an individual. He fits as much against Stark as he does Strange as he does a team. Using him post Stark will only continue to push the importance of Stark in the MCU. It will continue to pay homage

That’s it.... Feige needs his own security detail, adamantium skeleton, and multiple clones growing in an underground lab so this NEVER ENDS

@ElJefe - You think that was Feige up on that stage?

The REAL Kevin Feige hasn't been seen since 2012, he remote controls that LMD from a secure Disney facility via VR headset.

Hopefully he acts like Baron Zemo as well. They went completely in-name-only with him in Civil War. I feel like if this exact version of him appeared in a Fox movie, Marvel fans would have been all over it (in a bad way).

Still, this is exciting news.
Murdock857859
Murdock857859 - 7/20/2019, 9:19 PM
@Darkknight2149 - I thought the Zemo in Civil War was a great origin story for the character. Zemo in the comics has always been driven by vengeance and they represented that with great effect in the movie I felt. Loved the character.
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 7/21/2019, 1:41 AM
@Murdock857859 -
By that logic, any vengeance driven character can be Baron Zemo.

I just don't see how people on this site can spend years nitpicking every minor inaccuracy in the Fox X-Men as a massive betrayal, only to turn around and defend Marvel when they create a character that's completely in-name-only. The MCU is great, but this site tends to look at it through rose-tinted goggles.
Vigor
Vigor - 7/21/2019, 5:30 AM
@Darkknight2149 - I always saw zemo in civil war as an origin story

Also marvel has EARNED trust and those rose tinted glasses.
Murdock857859
Murdock857859 - 7/23/2019, 10:09 PM
@Darkknight2149 - Because regardless of accuracy, Zemo in Civil War was done very well. Plain and simple. He was a great villain. Can you say the same about Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix or Barakapool in X-Men Origins? No.
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 7/26/2019, 11:08 AM
@Murdock857859 -
I can say the same thing about a lot of X-Men characters that MCU purists nitpick. In fact, all of the X-Men were good except X3, Origins, Apocalypse, and Dark Pheonix, but a lot of people on this site still treats the franchise as a whole like it's the plague.

And the hardcore nitpicking didn't even start until around 2010, when people found out that the Fox characters wouldn't be joining the Avengers...
