Love and Monsters premieres at home and in select theaters on October 16th from Paramount Pictures, and takes place seven years after the "Monsterpocalypse." Humanity has been forced to hide underground, but Joel (Dylan O'Brien) decides to embark on a dangerous mission to reunite with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) after reconnecting with her over the radio. However, with dangerous monsters standing in his way, their reunion isn't going to be an easy one.
Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) and Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War) are also part of the cast, and we recently caught up with Jessica to discuss her role in the movie.
Following the cancellation of Iron Fist, it's unlikely that the door is open to Henwick being able to reprise the role of Colleen Wing (despite there once being talk of a Daughters of the Dragon spinoff). However, with her star clearly on the rise, it's probably a matter of when and not if the actress lands a leading role in a high-profile superhero project in the Marvel or DC Universes.
When we asked if there any roles, in particular, she has in mind, Henwick said: "Gosh, I don’t know. I’d love to return to the Marvel Universe, and it was really important to me seeing how many children would look up to those characters. For them to get representation and say, ‘Oh my God, a female superhero,’ or ‘Wow, an Asian superhero.'"
"That was such a wonderful moment as an actor, and I would definitely do it if the project was right and the character was right," she added, stopping short of singling any specific characters out.
Now, we can only hope that Henwick is on the radar of Marvel Studios, Warner Bros or Sony Pictures (after all, they are in the process of making a Spider-Woman movie).
